I was just at tires plus. they tryed to charge me $290 for a used rim for my gtz. the old one had a hair line crack in it. i wanted to ask the parts department at the mitsubishi dealership but its closed right now. so i just wanted to know if any one knew how much a new factory rim would cost and how much a used one costs??? the rim they trying to sell me has rust stains and brake dust all over it. theres no way that stuff is coming off. plus who knows how long that rim has been on the streets and how much damage has been done to it, what if i drive off and that rim cracks!!!! i just dont want to spend $300 on a beat up used rim.

oh and the rim is on my profile pic below.

I would actually just try to get yours fixed. Many shops around my way will fix things like that for under $100. Either that or search ebay and craigslist.

OEM price for stock wheels especially if they are alloy wheels you are looking around $300 per wheel. Depending how bad the damage is on the old wheel...I would get a quote to get it fixed at a wheel repair place.

Either that...shop around local salvage yards, craigslist or ebay or even try mitsubishigraveyard.com.

$300 you say? I was thinking of upgrading my stock rims on my 02 and probably going cheap, but if they were going for this much, I might hold out for more.

The price I stated is buying from a Mitsu dealership brand new...not what the going rate for re sell value which would be significantly cheaper.

Nobody would pay $300 for one GTZ wheel in the used market. If you found a GTZ with wheels in the junkyard, you could probably snag all 4 wheels + tires for $150 or less.

Here are you oprtions:

Brand new from the dealership - will be expensive as stated above.
You can get brand new copies on ebay for around $150.
You should be able to get one from a junkyard even cheaper.
Ask around here, on the forum. Complete sets go really cheap.

There's nothing wrong with a used wheel as long it's not cracked or bent. But there's no way on earth I'd buy one for $300.

alright i went to the dealership and got a qoute on how much a brand new stock rim would cost and found out it only cost about 190. i went back to tires plus and showed them the invoice and they ordered it. when they got it they showed it to me right out the box still wrapped in plastic "BRAND SPANKING NEW". i knew they were trying to rip me off. i saved $100 dollars. and because they had me waiting almost a week and a half, they didnt even charge me labor for puting the tire on. but get this. when they pull the car out the garage and give me the keys, i saw that they chiped and cracked the center lug nut cover on the new rim. i was pissed but i figured i could just get that replaced another day and plus my car hasnt been looking so good since all the winter damage it went threw. cant wait to get it looking pretty again. i was just happy to get my car back and save $100.
here check out the quote

Ummm... If you didn't see, he posted his receipt for the new rim he bought.

For a new rim, with the tire installed, thats not a bad price at all at any shop without a discount.
