I am getting new brakes for my G with my tax refund, I just dont know which ones. I want the R1 concept premium rotors, or E-Line rotors, or powerslot? And also which pads: Hawk, Axxis Ultimate, or Posi Quiet? Any suggestions or personal experiences would help!

Hawk Hps...work good but they dust pretty good amount...I like'm...I know some guys run and like them Posi Quiet Ceramics....but to me they suck I mean they don't dust but braking performance is nothing special...

thats good to know, I figured the posi ceramics wouldnt be the greatest.

I have the R1 premium front & rear drilled/slotted rotors with axxis deluxe pads. They are just as great as my old brembo slotted/drilled rotors i used to have. I must say i owned HAWK HPS pads before, and they are MUCH better then the axxis in stopping but they produce WAY more dust then these axxis pads. I rather stop on a dime faster, then having my wheels dust free personally. I would also recommend upgrading the front caliper to the dual piston which made a huge difference also. Oh yeah get the SS brand lines might as well do everything while your at it, i paid $500 shipped for front/rear prem rotors, SS lines front/rear, Axxis deluxe pads front/rear & G1 caliper paint all from R1concepts.

Hope that helps!

PS: i do have 2 sets of AXXIS pads id sell cheep brand new, incase your trying to save few bucks.

Thanks for the info, i might hit you up on the pads. Im only doing my front rotors right now because my front left if warped. I will do my rear brakes shortly. Are there any advantages to cross drilled/slotted or just slotted, just drilled?

How do you do the dual piston caliper, or which calipers do we use for our cars?

'99 v6 and early '00 v6 have dual piston front calipers. also early '00 3G V6 calipers were dual piston fronts.

i think its only on the earlier ones. not sure if the 01 still has it or went back to the 1 piston versions

Would the stopping power between the normal R1 concept rotors drilled/slotted or the premium drilled and slotted rotors be a big difference? This would be for the front and rear on an i4.

For the dual piston swap how can I tell if my wheels will fit over them? I have heard that some wheels will need spacers. Do you need anything besides the new calipers to do the dual piston swap?

Any clue on how much the dual piston calipers would go for? I think they might be hard to find if I can only get them from a 99-00 G, hopefully not because I want more stopping power :) .

x2, E-Line vs. Premium, whats the difference?

if your willing to spend 500 you might want to look ant brembos. it will only cost a bit more.

of course you need to make sure your wheels clear.

if not just get dual pistons.

When I did my brakes, I went with the e-line rotors for the fronts and Akebono Ceramic pads, as Dave (redgalant2k1) recommended. I've had no issues and good enough braking power for the i4 for a DD and virtually no dust at all. I didn't go for the premium rotors because of the price and wasn't really keen on the extra looks as I don't have fancy rims either. I just got my rear disk swap together and am staying with the same combination again.

I was thinking abut getting the E-Line so I can get all 4 done at the same time, If I do the premium I will only have enough for the front right now. E-Line, hawk pads, dual piston calipers is what im thinking at the moment

Does r1concepts sell SS brake lines for our cars? I'm searching on their site and they don't seem to list them. I have also tried the 3g and still nothing.

Would new SS brake lines increase stopping power?

How much bigger are the dual piston calipers over the standard single piston that most of us have? I have 17" Enkei wheels and hopefully they would fit.

SS brake line are included in the GB pricing, they are not listen on the website. PM R1 Concepts and ask them. SS brake lines will have a faster response and more steady brake feel when you hit the brakes, if that makes sense.

My $500+ 2-piece rotors rust too except for the aluminum hat... What do you mean rusting? Rotors aren't made out of stainless steel after all.

I guess I figured this Zinc coating that comes on the Premium rotors would protect the edge of the rotors.. not the area that the pad comes in contact with, the vertical edge

useful reading in evolutionm.net about cross/drilled/slotted 1 or 2piece rotors http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-tires-wheels-brakes-suspension-sponsored-tire-rack/202487-brembo-rotors.html

okay.. i cant seem to find any new dual piston calipers..

im just thinkin bout buying power slot slotted rotors for $70 and some axis pads for $40. instead of spend $265+ w.e. it is for calipers.
