I bought an Evo dropout off ebay from this salvage yard over in New Jersey for $5500 shipped. They said they didn't know what condition the motor was in and they said the car had been wrecked. Obviously the motor had to be running to wreck the car right? Here is what I got:

I started to go through the motor to see what condition everything was in and found ARP 8740 head studs.

I got my subframe back from the local fabrication shop. He did a pretty good job. I also had him relocated the intercooler top mounting bracket. This car is going together soooo slowly. It better be worth it.

I'm away at college and don't have a garage. I was doing all my work at my buddies shop and he started working on the roof so I had to move my car out 11/22/2008. Didn't touch it over turkey break, finals week, or x-mas break. I came back from break and they still didn't have the roof done and I didn't know what I was gonna do. A warm day in February inspired me to just do it in my driveway and bring all my tools from home.

Yeah..when I saw that its questionable on what effect that has done to the subframes structural integrity. Unless there are some welded bracing that can't be seen in the pics...I would personally be worried.

The swap though looks pretty good..but interested on seeing this thing on video when done.

the swap isn't bolt on but very doable...

i started on mine actually i'll probably have the rear end in a week or so. wont get to work on the front till i finish the starion.

can anybody confirm whether it's ok to leave in the half shafts in for now till i work on the front or should i just remove them for now?

Stewi

Which half shafts?

In regards to him cutting the subframe, there are other pics on C3G that show how he relocated the rack and then reinforced the top part where he cut.

If you pay attention he also cut the lower outer firewall out below the shifter cables

the rear half shafts...just wondering if it's ok to leave them in connected to the diff until i work on the front end (which wont be for a while)

as long as there is no driveshaft attached you should be OK
