Alot of people want to convert their interior black, but we 8G owners can only use 3G Eclipse seat belts. The front seat belts are swappable and don't require any modifications to make them fit.

Here is a pic of the rear seat belts side by side, the one on the left is the Eclipse and the other is the Galant. As you can see there is no way you can get the Eclipse bracket to fit into the Galant. At first I tried removing those two rivets but it was to much work. I found an easier way which involves removing the seat belt material and installing it in the Galant seat belt assembly.

*****NOTE THIS PART IS ONLY FOR THE ECLIPSE SEAT******

To make it easier remove the casing with gears inside as shown in the picture below. It says warning do not remove but the only thing in there are some gears and bearing.

This is what it looks like after the gears and everything is removed.

Know it will be easier to remove the seat belt material from the assembly, with having to worry about it recoilng. Kow remove the seat belt material from the assembly by sliding it through the slot and removing the plastic dowel. Once the dowel is removed push the seat belt material back through the slot and remove the seat belt material from the assembly. The plastic dowel can be seen in this picture.

******NOTE THIS PART IS FOR THE GALANT SEAT BELT******

Now for the Galant seat belt, this part is tricky but not to hard. Pull the seat belt material until it stops and push the material out. The same way you did the Eclipse seat belt. But remember the recoil mechanism is still on, so your going to have to hold it with you hand until the seat belt material is out. Once its out stick something in the slot to keep it from recoiling. I used a key to hold mine in place. When you get the seat belt out of the Galant don't let it recoil completely in the assembly or your stuck its nearly impossible to pull back out.

Once the seat belt material is out from the Galant assembly, install the Eclipse seat belt material and make sure you install the plastic dowel back in there. Make sure you put it in the right way or you will be doing it over again. Let it recoil, but not all the way and your done.

That's it, took me about 30 min to complete both rear seat belts. After finding this way I sure you can use the seat belt material from any car is your looking for a different color.
