i've heard that pirelli's have very soft sidewalls...meaning you touch anything with any force at all and it pop the tire (that's what i've read on tirerack, i'm not a tire expert)

I hate those BS tirerack reviews. The only information I'd trust is the actual testing that they do, anything else is so completely subjective its ridiculous. Not to mention what these people NEVER say in their reviews is that they ran off the road, hit a pothole, or are just otherwise completely reckless with their care of the car and its tires.

I've seen just about every tire brand in any condition, from nearly any type of vehicle. And by and large Pirellis are certainly quite durable. But any large impact or careless driver will damage and/or destroy their tires.

I'm not sure to be honest, I would like performance, but I drive just about 100 miles a day between work and college. Someone suggested a touring type of tire. So any suggestions would be appreciated.
