lowered the car a little today and rolled the fenders all the way around and my buddy thought it would be cool to throw his 18x9.5 Gram Light 57 optimise on my car to see how they would look. needless to say, it came out outstanding. the only thing is that i will need a 5mm spacer for the fronts to clear the inside of my calipers. i have that covered though cuz since im getting these powder coated silver, ill shave the 2mm off the caliper and then coat them. then it'll be the perfect fit. enjoy.

im seriously considering these because i have found them for less than $1500 without tires and that is just fine with me. so the deployment money will definately help.....again. lol let me know what you think.

hell yeah, im budgeting these out right now and i should be able to have them with Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs in the same size as the tires that are on those rims. (245/40/18 )

are you hitting something when you turn full lock on the front wheels?

boostzealot
03-15-2009, 01:19 AM
i havent tried with the gram lights. we just were joking around and tried them and they fit. we were all like "oh DAMN!!!"
before i buy them for sure i will make the changes i stated before and then reinstall the wheels and take them around the block to make sure they do ok in all ranges of motion. i would hate to buy them and then they not really do well driving around. 18x9.5 is a big rim but it fits.

huh? there have been plenty of 8G's w/ extremely wide wheels and low offsets since the 8G came out... just not often publicized. there are quite a few very nice aggressive USDM galants that are rarely on here or not on any of the boards and in some cases have never had pictures posted. just because you haven't seen them doesn't mean they don't exist. maybe what you meant is it's good that you finally get to see them.

that setup looks hott but your probably gonna rub on the inside during hard turns. What offset are the wheels? (not counting the spacer) Im running 235's 18x8 +35 offset and I cant even get my pinkie between the the tire and the rear 1/4 panel in the back and im running a few degrees negative camber. My 1/4 panel is also cut and folded up so its like there is no lip in there at all. I cant believe you got 245's on a 9" wide wheel out back and its not rubbing.

Oly OMG my gosh my ballz are blue shitz YO!

Those are freaking nice BJ...those wheels looks and fit just right for your Galant man. Though like what some are concerned...its looks like a very tight fit and might have issues on turns, but none the less on visual appeal...its drop dead sexy!

would the +38 offset kinda compensate for the width when it comes to rubbing when turning?

RedGalant2k1

Not really 'that' aggressive.

it does when your running a 8 or 8.5" wide wheel, but with a 9.5" wide wheel, thats a little crazy. Its odd that they dont stick out that far, from pics it looks like 9g's wheels stick out far, but his are a lower offset and less wide, doesnt make sense.

looks great

outers might rub at full turn, but you can just cut a hole in your liner

thanks, and the rock guard replacements are sitting in the garage. if i would stop spending money on other shit i would have my vr4 sides by now.

BJ...they look pretty hot on the G.

Matt, want to loan me the money to get these before i go to Iraq again? lol thanks man, i really want to get the spacers and then take the car around the block to see if i should buy this same offset and all. i would hate to buy them and then they not work out for me.

Astig, yeah for some reason in the pics they dont look that wide but those 245's are stretched over those 9.5's, thats probably why they didnt look all that wide.

thanks for the compliments all.

that looks nice as hell, aggressive is prolly the perfect word... few questions

you roll the fenders with the tool or some DIY way?

you're running a 6G74 in there right?

dknight3
03-16-2009, 05:48 PM
your going to shave 2mm off your calipers?

uhhh i would not do that.

greddy
03-16-2009, 06:07 PM
^why not, it's just extra metal, two mm is nothing

why would they design a brake caliper with "extra metal"
i wouldn't take any chances with my brakes.

extra aluminum.

boostzealot

well its really "where" im shaving the calipers. its the only place that it even gets close to rubbing the wheel. thats the only spot. once that little part of the casting of the caliper is gone, the wheels will fit just fine. once th process begins ill take pics and really they will be shaved before going to the powder coater so that the shaved portion will look as intended...unnoticiable.
