I am not buying a system most likely I may get a cheap ebay system to fill missing pieces but for the most part I am going to start hand picking parts. As I pick the parts they will be listed here. I am going for a 2.25 exhaust. So anyone who was planning the same I will also include options that I found to help with research. This is an I4 only thread and any knowledge add in would help.

Things to consider. Although our car has had a few aftermarket pieces made we are not limited to just those we can use certain pieces of the 3G eclipse exhaust for the I4 without mods or a whole system we just need to stretch it.
https://www.thegalantcenter.org/showthread.php?t=34741&highlight=exhaust+diagrams For your consideration an old post of mine.

This is not for ebay exhaust systems this is for people who look to get what they pay for and plan to pay well not cheap out on parts. If you want a part posted on here supply a link that has a price so people know what to look for.

My possible 2.25 system:
Headers: RPW 4-1.
Cat: Dynatec Super Converter
Tubing: VRS Mandrel Bent
Muffler: Borla Turbo XL possibly.
Something stylish for the Tip and of course a CF heat shield so I don't burn my girl.

Parts that have been researched and known to fit:
Headers-(legal for inspection)
a. Racing Performance Works Headers. Hear a lot of good stuff about these.

b. CMF Headers. Also heard good stuff about these.

For Good Mandrel Bent Piping I suggest going to your local muffler shop once you choose everything else.
a. VRS Exhaust Piping Kits I think we should be fine with the 00-03 fwd eclipse 2.25 piping.
http://www.vrsexhaust.com/TUBING_KITS/MITSUBISHI_TK/mitsubishi_tk.html

Any modifications needed for this can be done for about 50 bucks at a muffler shop like I said.

Now it's time to choose your muffler and tail pipe and out the door you go. See list below.
a. Here is a list of all universal 2.25 single inlet single outlet muffles. 208 options ;)

Yeah prices are high but the stuff above will yield better hp without losing low end torque unlike some of those ebay kits

Guys like I said I want any of you I4 people to add to this so it can be a basic layout for I4 owners that want to do an exhaust

Or you could go with a quality exhaust for a 3G and just extend it a few inches, cheaper, looks better, and it's already well engineered. And unless you're looking to make some power, getting an exhaust on an otherwise stock I4 galant is worthless other than the sound.

I have plans in the works for the future. NA, but plans.

Possibly a high compression 2.6 dohc 5speed with all supporting mods when I am done. either way staying NA I know its more expensive to do but I want it.

https://www.thegalantcenter.org/showthread.php?t=35826 That list was made for an eclipse but I am using it as the basis for my build I got rid of the cut out idea which is why I am going for this high flow build in this thread for exhaust

My list is different but still that list was my inspiration. I never wanted to turbo my 03 any way thats what picking up a vr4 and rebuilding it is for in the future Once I have a stable job and a good daily the 03 project will probably start

the EVO exhaust outlet is on the opposite side (passenger side) of the car from the 8G (driver side). you could use the components (resonator, cat, muffler/tip) from the system and get new piping, either 3g aftermarket, 8g aftermarket, custom or your stock, but the evo piping has the wrong bends in the wrong places (routed completely different than the 8g).

Do all of these headers eliminate the top cat and connect directly to the stock flex pipe??

loosing low end has to do with everyone jumping on 3'' exhaust instead of just removing the restrictive cat, resonator and muffler and upgrading to same diameter high flow components

no, none of them connect to the stock flex pipe, they all replace it. headers for our platform replace all cats and connect to the cat-back exhaust. some headers incude a main cat and some include both main and pre, and some just delete both.
