2004 Galant grinding while accelerating

2004 Galant ES 2.4 litre AT that has an intermittent grinding or brushing sound while accelerating. Doesnt matter what the temp of the vehicle is. Occurs at any speed and gear.I have changed the plugs, trans fluid, air cleaner, injectors have been cleaned. Have no idea what is causing it. Any ideas?

can rattling sound? if so its the heat shield(s).

That is the perfect description. What causes the heatshield to rattle like that?

design flaw. i got 2 heat shields removed already. mitsubishi knows about it but ignores to fix it under warranty

ive got the same thing goin on with mine..i thought it was the catylic converter so i went to the muffler shop to get checked..are they hard to remove..any consequences by removing them?

you could wrap it with header wrap but make sure it's tight.
