so master, slave and throw out bearing arrived yesterday and today in separate packages, i ordered the Exedy OE clutch kit today so all i need to order is the bushings for the shifter and cables and the clutch lines

now what i have been thinking about is using a full SS line from the master to the slave without using any of that OEM per-bent tubing but would that be a good idea at all ??

edit: im still surprised that no one asked me about those headlights that i have on the floor in the second pic :)

so finally got out of bed since im feeling a lil better and decided to tackle the timing belt and other projects, even though the doctor told me i need to rest for 2 weeks after my surgery, sitting at home doing nothing was driving me crazy

Shortchain decided to help me and i wanna thank him cuz he is actually doing most of the work and im doing the light/basic work

battery and battery tray and tray bracket removed, fuse box unbolted, timing belt cover removed, pully removed, all belt were old so we cut them out of the way and new ones will be ordered, washer resovoir and radiator resovoir removed, front end disassembeled

i have to make up my mind whether im keeping my power steering or not, i know everyone says keep it but without it i will have a cleaner engine bay or i can always get the power steering lines custom made to my length so i can reroute them and make the engine bay look cleaner

same applies to AC, i think im getting rid of it but havent fully made up my mind

what do you guys think ??

mko
05-23-2009, 05:17 PM
yo, keep the power steering- unless you have a drag car with mucho horse power.

Maybe ill come down when you start the tranny swap

i hated it when i didnt have a/c for about a month last year in the summer, the part i needed took forever and after it was in another leak was discovered so i had to wait for that one as well. even though you really only need it for a few months out of the year i still like having it when its needed.

as for the power steering, living in the tri state it would be hard without it. theres so much parallel parking that you need to stop and turn the wheel for. when your moving its not bad without it but it is definately an option that i wouldnt give up, especially as i said living here. if you could get the custom lines then go for it if your trying to simplify the engine bay but i definatly wouldnt eliminate it.

Keep the AC, keep the PS. Its not a race car, you will regret it if you get rid of them.

I hope you guys know what you are doing with the tbelt. You better replace more then just the belt.

im replacing all the belts and the water pump, the sensor looks ok and the pulleys are fine beside the crank pulley

what else do you think we should replace ??

seth98esT

Auto tensioner, tensioner pulleys, and idler pulley. May as well be safe then sorry, tensioner pulleys are ~$30per.

thanks for the info you gave me over AIM seth, i really appreciate it

we are gonna hopefully pull the motor and tranny out of the car today

i wanna clean the engine thoroughly and paint it along with the tranny

clean the engine bay and fix all the rust spots and paint the bay semi flat black

replace few gaskets and sensors

i gotta roder an oil pump, belts, pulleys, Balance shaft delete kit and the rest i have
