I need some input I'm wondering if i should run the AEM plug and play ems or go with dsmlink with a eprom ecu. Rob has the AEM and i love what that thing can do, but i like dsmlink cause it is made for the EPROM's so it should in theory work well.

Both are too expensive. I will be going with Megasquirt. The whole package costs about 400 - 500 bucks

If I had to choose again I would do DSM link over my EMS. The EMS has soo many functions half of which you will never use unless your a serious racer, like im talking a competitive series racer. There are plently of daily driver 500-600whp DSM's running link with no trouble.

Honestly it's up to you, and like Stewi said this becomes application or experience dependent.

if i were in that position i'd run a evo8 ecu. and run the plethera of tuning software available for it.

screw dsmlink, screw ecmlink.

Don't the AEM ems have more aftermarket tools.

I think that is what seth was telling me to do is just run a evo 8 ecu and the tuning software which i think it is called evotune? is the evo 8 ecu any harder to wire up? This is where i am lost in this whole build, i have to rewire the harness to make it work. Could i just get a harness for a 2g eclipse and a ecu from a 2g eclipse to make this easier? im lost on this subject at this point and need to be sent in the correct direction before i start buying stuff.

To covert a 2g DSM harness pinout to an EVO pinout you only need to change/move 6-8 wires. If you search over one dsmtuners there was a whole thread on how to do this.

Was your 7g originally 5 speed or auto? if it was 5 speed, I would just modify the harness thats in the car to work with the EVO ECU.

You can get them on EVOM for like $150 shipped.

cool and then what tuning software do you use? I got to find that thread on DSM tuners on how to wire up the ecu.

i would assume you would use evoscan with a tatrix cable and flash onto the evo ecu

Evoscan, ECU flash, Cobb Accessport, ECUTek, there are a bunch of different EVO ECU hack software systems. Go on EVOM and look around there is an entire section on tuning and each system/brand has their own subgroup.

I have alot experience on tuning with AEM ECU , Dsmlink , Microtech , Motec , Haltech ECU but i think Dsmlink its the decent piece and better for street race car because the other ecu is standalone and you dont need the high professinal stand alone ECU with alot charts ( that you dont need it ) .
you can change and edit all the required charts and things that you need for tune your car , plus its really simple and you can manage your ecu easily. And dsmlink has perfect customer service with Thomas Dorris .
Buy the Eprom ecu and Dsmlink and dont hesitate about this choice .

Good luck

Although I'm not using ECMlink atm, v3 currently has a speed density setup in the works that is being tested atm. Give them a call , or download their software to get an idea of how it works.

I have V3 in my eclipse. EMS has a lot more control but if you dont know what your doing its useless. DSMlink is much more user friendly and its almost plug and play.
