fuck no! bro, why dont you just build your motor? Now would be a perfect time.

now if this is yout DAILY driver and you are in dire need of a new motor
I personally would say just buy a used DE or ES near your area and pull that motor out swap it into your Galant...case closed. No Ebay hunting, PLUS you get to test the motor while you're teast driving the used car. For the price you posted of that motor you found on ebay you could just get a used G and tear that bitch apart. sell the frame for scraps, part outs, etc.

(BTW": how/why did your engine die on you? wtf happened)

thats what i was thinking, but money and time is really tight since this is a DD.

WELL! im not a big engine head guy, so what all would i need to rebuild? ive been seeing these rebuild kits but how do i know which is the best to go with? NOTE: i know the saying: you get what you pay off.

1. Do you have any idea whats wrong with your current motor? i mean, ball park? what makes you so sure that you even need ANOTHER one?

fam, as far as rebuild kits is concerned; if you dont know exactly what your doing then dont mess with your car. i would suggest that you pay someone(whom you trust, and has the proper equipment) who can diagnose the problem, and possibly fix it for a REASONABLE price. OR if they are willing to fix it with you [assisting them] for lesser price.

2. if it absolutely cannot be fixed(or isen't worth fixing), have that same person do the swap for you.

piston, bearing and bad oil leaks. im not that clueless on what needs to be done. makin me feel stupid bro

i plan on taking out the engine cause of bad oil guck under the car so i want to clean all that up as well as the hole engine. i plan on getting some parts powercoated as well.

did you have a compression test/compression leakage test done? it might just be the rings. bearings can be replaced, assuming your crank aint warped and fucked up too. And you might just need to replace your old gasket from your oil pan if there's oil leaking onto the ground.

Now, if you've had a severe oil leak for a long period of time, i'm assuming your unternals are all scuffed the fuck up, in which case, yes, a major overhaul would be necessary. But its hard for me to sit here and try and diagnose your engine. If buying a new engine is on your agenda, for the money, i think you should just buy a used G like i said earlier bro.

oil leaking everywhere from the block infront, back and tran side SO YES I KNOW IM GOING TO NEED NEW GASKETS. yes the bearings can be replaced, but do to the oil leak im having to take more of the engine apart, the crank yes was damaged.

Im the type: if it doesnt need it just do it so at less you know its been done.

i have a good amount of friends including Heather boyfriend that are welling to help me on the repair. so labor isnt a big issue with me. its just making sure i get the right parts.

Skip ebay, just search your local junkyards for another engine, in dallas galant's engine (i4 or v6) is about $400 with 31 days warranty.
