3 coats.. thats nice, do you know how they about polishing? was it 2 coats, sand and another coat? of just all coats sand and polish.

I've never seen it, but i'm workin' on a 79 camaro and the plan is to paint it, put on 4 coats of clear, then water sand it to perfection, and put another 2 coats of clear. I don't know how it'll look, but thats what my painter is saying lol.

they do this on show cars because it lets the clear lay down totally smooth, making the paint look like glass. This is a bad idea for a mostly street driven car as the smoother the clearcoat is, the weaker it is in terms of resisting chips and other impact. The slight waves in the clear are reffered to as orange peel, a good finish is typically as much peel as the car had when it was new, or just slightly less for a street driven car.

they are doing the rear disc conversion too and since there is some paint left over, they repainting the caliper to match the car.

i know the side skirt is molded on but not the fender flares though.

definately dont mold the flares, when dropped low the wheels will occasionally hit on them since they sit slightly lower then the fenders. otherwise you will be having to have them repaired too much

that is unless you are running a skinnier wheel in which case would look strange with the flares.

and unless its just going to be a show car or something i wouldnt do the fron or rear bumpers either. it will be to much of a hassle since they flex when yo rub on something or god forbit somone tapps your rear etc.

the skirts however shouldnt be a problem mine are molded and still look fne even though i do occasionally rub a little on them. although mine are fg replicas so they are more stiff then the plastic ones.

car is looking real good though any updates
