As you may know, when you already have the rear disc brakes from a 3g and you go to the EVO brakes, the dust shield from the 3g is too small and it hits the rotor and it must be removed. It is not a bolt on shield like the front ones, its actually welded to the backing plate. I have heard of people cutting it off using a cutoff wheel and the like, but I just wanted to say how easy it is to just drill out the welds. there are a total of 8 welds, use a rag to wipe all the crap off so you can see the welds and then drill them out with the a bit just slighty larger than the weld I think I used either a 5/32's or 3/16's bit. You dont need to drill deep, proably less than 1/8" then use a screwdriver or pry bar and the shield should pop right off. I know you dont see it with the rotor on, but its still a cleaner job. at the end, here are the pics...

i know from doing body work, there are bits that are double ended, one end to center and the other to get the weld. they work great for me, but maybe the bit could work for this. but good job man. i probably would have went with the cut off wheel LOL. then went back to clean it up later.

for those who dont have access to drills, I used a screw driver and hammer and the welds broke off easy

Good know about this. Currently there's a hizzing sound i can hear when i'm driving the g, it could be the dust cover hitting the rotors? Since the dust cover isn't in good shape.
