Hey guys, have a question for you.

I was asked what I want for my birthday, and I chose a remote start. I need some suggestions on a model to buy. I want something cheap, but not so cheap that it blows ass (I know thats contradictory) but I mean I'm sure there is middle ground.

I know the install is the costly part of a remote start, so I would like to save some money with the unit itself.

And another question I had, was how does this effect the need for a key?
I believe the key has to be in the ignition to take the care out of park(right?) so you still couldn't just drive it without a key in the ignition?

And also, is accidentally pressing the remote start button while its in your pocket a common problem? I don't want my car starting and not know it...

Thanks guys!

I don't actually need the alarm, just the remote start

Your better off having a unit that does both. why would you want to have to remotes on your key chain? Assuming you have the factory alarm.

Isn't the install going to be a lot more expensive with a new alarm too? I figured it would be cheaper to just get the remote start, save some money with the install cost.

that's because it's already figured into the price.

between the 2, it is a little bit more but not a lot. you also have to add a lil extra to your price for your bypass you need.

yeah i think installation was what made it almost 600 with the bypass module, extra relays. i bought my bypass off ebay so i didnt loose a key.
