what to look for in tires

I'm going to be buying new rims 18x7.5,and was also looking for some tires. What kind of things should i be lookin for, i am thinking about getting 225/40/18. On treadwear ratings, is the higher the better?

an example i found of sizing was 225/40hr/18, and anothe was 225/40zr/18, what do the letters represent and which is better?

the letters are the speed ratings, HR means H rated tires which has a top speed of 130....... ZR means Z rated which has a top speed of 149

technically the ZR rated tires are better cause of the stiffer sidewalls = better handling, HR will give u a slightly smoother rides, cause of softer side walls

when buying tires u should think about how you will be using them. if u live in a winter climate, are they just ognna be summer tires or all year. if u live in a wet or a dry climate. uhm how are u gonna use the tires. normal driving, racing, xcross. how long do u want the tires to last etc etc.

To be honest every single set of tires i have had, the only thing i worry about is the speed rating and how long until i have to buy a new set..lol.. i go threw tires really quickly until i started just buy street legal drag tires..
