Alternate horn

HOw hard is it to add an alternate horn?.... mine doesnt worrk...would it be cheaper or easier to hook up an alternate horn with switch... not sure if i want what is wrong with my stock horn could be the horn itself, horn relay or horn switch.....your help is very much appriciated thanks

its very simple. to simply add a new horn unbolt the onld one and connect the 2 wires to the new one. if your going to be adding something more serious or would prefer to incorperate your alarm to it or something then there is a little more wiring involved but still simple

Yea, i would just replace the horn itself. A lot easier, that is if thats what wrong with it. It could be like my 2000 Eclipse, the relay, horn, and wiring going to the horn is all in working condition. So i think its either the wiring going from the steering wheel/airbag to the relay, Or the airbag itself.

If you have the stock horn and it has never been replaced then most likely it is the horn. My horn is just about dead also. It sounds fine one second then the next it sounds like it is about to die. I was actually thinking about hooking up some air horns kind of like the ones on big rigs, but in a smaller version. LOL I need some thing really loud on the freeways that i drive.

the factory horn is grounded through the mounting bracket. most aftermarket horns aren't grounded that way so you would have to just run a new ground wire.

but yea, to test your existing horn, just grab a piece of wire, run it from a power source, like the battery and connect it to the one wire that goes to the horn. if the horn goes off then the horn works.
