So my tire was wearing out unevenly so i took my 99 galant to a auto shop and found out that my ball joint needs to be replaced. i looked at some control arm on ebay and found some, but they say 95-99. Is that right? I thought 99-2003 were the same type. And also, i remember the auto shop guy just telling me my balljoint needs to be changed, does this mean i have to get both the curved and lateral lower control arm?

99-03 should be the same type. Sometimes the eBay listings mention 95-99, but really mean 98 I believe. You should change the lower control arm alone. If I'm right, you're referring to the trailing arm as the lateral lower control arm? That wears off often as well, but I don't think it will affect the alignment.

Yeah sounds like your talking about the rear. There is no ball joint in the rear. if your talking about the front, NAPA sells balljoints for the 8g, thats the only place you can get them. I think I paid $65 for each balljoint.

Good thread cuz for a few months ago I have heard a lil noise right in the front... The right side is a lil bit more louder than the left side.. When I had my 2G eclipse I replaced the control arm and they look diferent as the galant... So i'm sitting on stock 15" rims with a tein lower spring and Kyb gr2.. So should I get the lower control arm or just go whith the stock one???(oem)

Nobody makes aftermarket front lower control arms for the 8g. Megan Racing makes the rear lower arms but thats it.

For OEM replacement parts, I use either NAPA or https://www.mitsubishiparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html

Thats good to know. Especially since I have a Parts Depot, Napa, PepBoys, Autozone, Advance Auto and about 3 or 4 private parts places near my house an all of them told me that you can only get the lower control arm from mitsu. If I knew the arms were that cheap I wouldnt have went thru the trouble of taking mine apart, having them blasted, painted and having new joints and bushings put it.
