I'm lucky enough to have a 5-speed Galant. However I grew accustomed to having a short shifter in my previous car. The problem I'm encountering now is that I can't find one for my Galant. If someone could help I'd be grateful...

Try a setup made for an eclipse. May have to do a lil modification to it but shouldnt be a major bitch to deal with.

I'm pretty sure that B&M makes one for the 7g.

What's the difference between a short shifter and a regular shifter. Are they easier to shift or something?

The differnece between the short shifter and the regular one is basically just height. The short throw is just that, short. It gives you a shorter distance to have to move the shifter in turn making your shifts quicker. Usually after market shifter give you a more positive shift too.

Short shifters have a re-designed shifting pattern that is tighter and allows the movement to be smoother and quicker, helps to improve shift time. Maybe even help your 1/4 mile time if ur feet can keep up with ur hands.

Get the b&m, I got a pacesetter, I think it was, and i'm not too happy with it. I may need to change the bushing though.

b&m's short shifter is indeed the best, get one for the 2nd gen eclipse(95-99) no modification necessary. btw, the shifter is not too much shorter, but raises the pivot point higher so that less movement on the top(the knob) = more movement on the bottom(the cables). b&m is probably the safest way to go as some of the others have been known to break, as well as a few cases of overextending the shift forks.

I bought the 2g Turbo Shifter WAYYYY back.. yes youcan use it

B&M is probably the best.. youc an choose 35% or 50% shorter throws

it *IS* somewhat pricey.... but it's probably the highest-quality one out there
