I've searched some threads but, I sure would like to hear someone who knows verify what I've found.

My air wasn't running that cold, decided to charge it up. According to the instructions I should have been at about 42 lbs but was at 30. So I added some freon, seemed to get colder but was still only at 36 or so lbs. Bought another small can of freon, added it, as soon as the can was about empty the compressor started kicking off and on. The pressure guage was jumping from 50 to 30 ( I think).

So have I overcharged? If so should I just push the low side valve and let some "bleed off"? Thanks for any input !! ! !

you used the low pressure line right? It could be that it was overcharged have you rechecked it using the gauge.

Its quite possible it could be overcharged. Where did you get a fill capacity of 42lbs?

The actual charge capacity is between 14.6 - 15.3 oz of R143a Freon and 4.7 fluid ounces of PAG 56 Oil.

True, charged it on the low side......Well, the gauge I'm using is the one that came with the can of coolant, I'm sure it's not that accurate. I got the 42 lbs off the side of the can. It said for my ambient temperature outside that's what I should charge to.....sound right?

I used a little gauge that you can stick in between the vents to check how cold the air is. But that gauge connected to the can should be accurate. R134a right?

Ehhhhh, the first can was r-134a.....I just noticed this can was just "134a"....no r

I saw those oils PAG oils at the parts place, but I'm a newb to AC. So the only thing I know (right now) is add r-134a till its at 42 lbs.....or so the can says.

Thanks and please help guys. I've taken very good care of my G and will absolutely be pissed if I've messed something up.

The car should be evacuated and recharged using a full size A/C Charge machine. Start there, and likely stop there. A/C charging doesn't entail just buying a can of R134a and charging to what the can says. There are manufacturer specifics that need to be followed. Otherwise you will have wasted time and money trying to solve the problem.

I think thats the same thing. Well i havent seen another one other than r134a or r12. Did you have the car on while the system was charging? Did you shake the or turn it upside down while recharging?

I believe your suppose to keep the can upright the whole time so that only the vapor enters the low pressure line.

Seems like when the compressor is ON it's running at around 40 but, when the compressor cuts off it jumps up to 50-60 ? ?

Throw that gauge out, and get the car properly charged.

Sorry to say but I would agree. Once stuff starts messing up with the compressor its better to take it to get diagnosed. There are places that will give you free Diagnosis.
