well, theyre covered under a recall, you know.
unless youre has already been done. Actually, even if they have been, you could probably get mitsu to buy another one.

yes, you could do it at home, but there are OFTEN problems with the wishbone (strut retainer) bolt siezing into its bushing. this requires cutting off of the bolt (a real pain in the ass), and a new bolt to be installed.

Take your Galant to your nearest Mitsu dealer and they will replace the lower ball joint at no cost.....its a recall. All they will do is check your VIN number and take your keys put the car on a rack and you got you a new set of stronger lower ball joints and its even has a warranty. (At least mine said they did)

BIG DEAL Seth, my Mitsu dealership is in Anchorage, which is about a 5-6 hour drive. I'm taking it there as soon as winter breaks.

Free is good

im going tomorrow! are your ball joints squeeking alot also? The sound coming from mine is so aggravating. Also Im pretty sure the control arms are included in this recall. Does anyone know about this?

To answer your original question, if you have a floor jack, a blind monkey could change our lower ball joints. it is part of the whole
arm. two bolts into the body and one locking nut to hold the threads of the ball joint to the bottom of the steering knuckle. really really easy, I did both of my lower arms in three minutes once I had the wheels off.

did you NOT read my post?
about how if the bolts are siezed (which happens about 50 percent of the time), it is a MAJOR pain in the ass?

if the bolts are siezed, i would bet that you will NOT be able to remove them at home. you need an air source and some type of cut off wheel.
then of course, you need new bolts.

angle grinder is the best toOl ever!

Bolts siezed because of rust or just because theyre like overtorqued or missthreaded? My lower arm came off in about 5 min. No problems with any bolts, besides if he cant remove the bolts, then just take the new parts and head on over to the shop he was gona go to anyway no harm done.

well i went to get my recall done. took the day off from work and all. they made me chill at the dealership for hours. i had no ride home and back to the place so i went to the mall down the street. after like 4 or 5 hours they called me and said they were not prepared to fix my car or some shit. even though i set an appointment and confirmed it. i was so pissed. i was like "whats up with a loaner car?" and they said nope. the most they could do was give me a free rental on the day they fix it (they should call me next week they said". anyway im pissed off. and my ball joints are squeeking like a pornstars bed.

Id say take it. I took mine and the joint was frozen on. it had to be cut off. You live in an area with harsh winters, salt and snow, and rain it will fuck up the bolts that hold it together. That was my problem, I lived in Jersey at the time so I think you might have the same problem.

I live in nyc we pretty much have the same weather that jersey has non of my bolts on my car (except exhaust) are rusted on, I never had a problem removing anything wierd.
