Nope. Quality coilovers will run you $700+ if your lucky. Brands such as Ksports, Tein, D2's, Megan. Or you can look into a quality shock/strut and springs combo.

who told u that? SKUNK2 is not top quality at all and are pretty much on par w/ WEAPON-R (ewww). also those are not really coilovers at all, simply ride height adjustable springs; coilovers include short body dampers (shocks made to better control and withstand lowering) and spring(s) in one unit. if you want to simply do adjustable springs, go w/ CROUND CONTROL, those are much better quality since they use EIBACH coils, and do their own R&D.

^X2. The Gr-2s are closer to stock and the Agx's handle a drop better and you can adjust the stiffness you want.

so what would be the absolute best option to do??

stvn_mj
08-06-2009, 03:14 PM
For your budget a strut/spring combo. Some Agx's with any springs you choose.

bsilver23
08-06-2009, 03:24 PM
what do you think about Ground Control?

bsilver23
08-06-2009, 07:10 PM
i think that the ones i am looking at are actually just springs that can be adjusted and really arent actually coilovers.

Those are not coilovers. They are just sorta adjustable springs i guess. I haven't seen to many people run that setup. Your better of just getting springs (progress,megan,tein..) and the agx shock/struts.

bsilver23
08-06-2009, 08:13 PM
i am having trouble finding some agx struts, how are the gr-2 struts?

stvn_mj
08-06-2009, 08:15 PM
The gr2 are will feel closer to stock, while the agx's handle a drop a lot better plus you can adjust stiffness. Don't know if we mentioned but the agx's are made for the 3g eclipse so when you look up agx's type in 00-05 eclipse.

bsilver23
08-06-2009, 08:21 PM
ohhhh, ok i will look them up for the eclipse

Ground Control were great back then when parts was slim. Istill have them on the 7g as of this day almost 8years now... as stated earlier springs are eibach, n paid 350 for them. I do recommend agx's though, but if your gonna do that might as well do a full coilover kit in the end

the reason u guys were not exposed to these is that everyone pretty much either does springs (cheap), or springs and dampers (better), or skips straight to full coilovers (best) nowadays; not many of us buy adjustable springs and dampers anymore because the cost is so close to full coilovers (especially the cheaper ones like KSPORT, D2 and MEGAN). before TEIN and JIC MAGIC came out w/ full coilovers for the 3G around the end of 2003, the GROUND CONTROL / KYB AGX combo was one of the best setups available for our platform. GC's are quality ride heght adjustable springs and a very reputable company who do their own R&D unlike most brands who simply copy or rebrand other companies' products (ie., MEGAN, SKUNK2, WEAPON-R etc.), but like any adjustable ride height spring, they will evetually blow stock length dampers, especially at lower ride heights.

The gr2 are will feel closer to stock, while the agx's handle a drop a lot better plus you can adjust stiffness. ...

the GR2's and AGX are set to EXACTLY the same dampening at the AGX's softest setting (OEM stiffness), so they would feel the same at the AGX's softest setting... the AGX does however add adjustment to go stiffer. the reason AGX's can handle a drop better is because they can be set stiffer to compensate for lowering springs heavier spring rates; even then, they are NOT warranteed against drops over 1.5". so to drop lower than 2" you really need short body dampers to retain full travel and avoid premature failure, and the only short body dampers available are included in full coilovers or you can have RRE cut down your stock damper bodies and do KONI inserts to revalve them.

Skunk2 is JUNK.

Coilovers....FTW.

I get Megans @ $725...any car if they make it. Thats my cost.

Reelax: Best setup to me, bang for the buck is UAS (Universal Air Suspension) Over Coils. As long as the strut diameter is 2.14 or smaller it can slip on....

of course u would like UAS, but that's a whole 'nother world including more mods past just the suspension... i excluded bags from the discussion because the OP was looking at SKUNK2 springs... bags would be on a level that only a very select few on the board have gone. in that case i would go AIRRUNNER.
