After about 5 hours of work i am almost done with one of the doors. The material is white viynl and the door is gloss black. The handles are either going to be blue to puple or rewd to gold color changing paint. Let me know what you guys think i should go with. http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/mngalant2000/vw...rc=ph%26.view=t ('http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/mngalant2000/vwp?.dir=/Galant&.src=ph&.dnm=Resize+Wizard-1.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/mngalant2000/lst%3f%26.dir=/Galant%26.src=ph%26.view=t')

Very nice! Any way you can put up a tutorial on how to do that? https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

I like that white vinyl, I have wanted to do something like that on my door also, my car came with a cigarette burn in the fabric on that part of the door on both doors, damn careless renters opening the doors with a cigarette :x

MnGalant, are you just using paint for the black or are you recovering it?

I painted mine and have had trouble with scratches (even after several layers of paint and clear coat.) It took about 6 months till it started to show.
I think the best solution is to prime it first. which is what I might be doing this summer. I am sick of looking at scratches!

On the next door, you might want to try taking some fine sand paper to scuff the door first, then prime, then paint. This will help the paint cure to the door better.

Looks great though!

Yup, this goes for all the trim pieces that you want painted also. I've had mine done for well over a year and no scratches are visible.

Where did you get the white vinly from? and how hard was it to recover the panel itself?

I got the viynl from the fabric store and it came that color. Its actually marine viynl. All it did was take the door apart and take off the old fabric. Then i cleaned the hell out of the plastic under the fabric. Its a pain in the ass getting all the adhesive off. Then i cut the viynl to the size. I then used a spray adhesive to glue it down and on the back where you dont see the viynl i used a hot glue gun to hold it in place cause the viynl is really streched. This is the first time ive ever done this and so far so good.
