I do not believe that there is any kind of clearance issue with the manifold since people have already done this modification but if anything will deff let you know. But thank you vary much and cant wait to get this engine in.

Those pistons don't have any valve pockets.... Something tells me thats going to be a problem. What pistons are you usings? For what engine?
Your dump tube is exactly where the starter should be, you should reroute that elsewhere. What engine is that cyl head from??

Hey whats up Roman?

These are CP forged pistons with flat tops 9:5.1 ratio I forget cuz I bought this a while ago so dont get me on the ratio part. I hope there wont be a problem, but if you dont mind me asking why my friend?

This is a 4g64 SOHC motor, I bought it fully stock and took it apart got the head P&P. The head is going to have Beehive valve springs/w stage 3 RPW turbo camshaft.

I also had a feeling that the dump was in the way of the starter but that no problem I just wanted to see how everything looked when put together.

Sorry guys right now just sitting in the garage :( Christmas and the New Years slowed me down alot but as of right now everything is ready to go in Im going to get some more pix up, but for now Im waiting for my Evo seats to get in so I can work on that. Right now its way to cold to work on anything...even with the heater in the garage I am cold as hell man...dont work well in the cold.lol But give me a little more time and will start to get things going again.

Since you are turbo'd I would look into a P&P custom intake manifold that will be able to handle the boost as time progresses.

Well finally after Christmas, and tuition for college finally got the chance to buy the camshaft and this was after New Years. After I had to wait a month b/c RPW was closed until Jan. 20th for the Holiday.lol After paying for the camshaft it took 2 weeks and finally got it.lol

I am sorry about not posting pix...beam514 I will make sure you will get your money back.lol
But thank you all for the help and support, updates will be made. TGC has been a great help to me and I thank you all for it.

Finaly got the damn cylinder head all assembled and torqued on the block...dont know why that was so hard to do but did not want to make me happy at all last night. But everything worked out and camshaft turnes very nice. Once again to fallow up: Beehive valve springs from a 4.6l 2v mustang will fit the 4g64 SOCH head.If any questions about where to find it message me. Everything else is brand new/w RPW stage 3 turbo camshaft and OBX racing cam gear; All in a 4g64 SOCH head Port and Polished...will post pix soon.

But so far everything looks great, and I have also changed my valve cover to a powder coated wrinkle black. Will get pix up today later tonight when I get back home.

Update on whats been going on guys, I know its been taking some time like I said due to school and work in the way. So we been trying to get this work done and hopefully we will be able to finish in the next couple of days and get this baby started, but here is some pictures I took from last night. Right now motor is in and M/T is in and everything fit perfectly. The only problem we have ran into is that the turbo is pretty big and so is the radiator.lol They are pretty damn close so we are trying to figure out how or where to run the fans. The last thing I wanna do is get another exhaust manifold but well try to figure something out, and the other thing is that the turbo dosnt spin freely and it might have to be re-built but like I said when the car starts up we will see what needs to be fixed and moved.

nah when i did my setup i had to remove the fan too but you can just put a slim fan on the outside set to reverse and youll have no problems at all and either way the fan that goes in that spot is the a/c one anyways.

LoL It seems like ur gonna have a problem with the fittings of the fan :P
HAHA yeah about that.lol I mean everything started to come together and nothing is rubbing on each other but than again everything is so close to each other, its hard to fit the other racing fan I have where the turbo is and also where the upper coolant hose goes...its so close to the waste gate dump. Once everything is pretty much together Im sure we will figure out something to make it work...theirs always another way.lol

nah when i did my setup i had to remove the fan too but you can just put a slim fan on the outside set to reverse and youll have no problems at all and either way the fan that goes in that spot is the a/c one anyways.

Yeah we were thinking of putting the fan where the turbo is on the other side but first we gatta see if the slim fan will really fit. Thanx for letting me know.

looks like fun. I'm glad to see this finally coming together.

Thanx alot buddy, trust me...me too. Its been to long that iv waited.lol :023:

Also guys I failed to let everyone know Im going to have a few parts for sale if anybody is interested. Right now I have a v6 TB and a Prothane motor mount and I believe is a tranny mount. Both of these are up for sale and will have pictures up later, and I promise both items are in Mint condition.

Let me know if you guys have any questions

Also figured out my little problem with the radiator fans...I have decided to keep the Evo 8 Radiator and get Jegs S radiator fan that puts out either 1950 CFM or the 2200 CFM, and for now that should do the trick.

Thanks alot buddy, right now working on 5 speed, and trying to get out the auto cables which is a bitch here and there but almost done. Today I should get the shifter in and clutch pedal in, and the only next step we have to do is wiring everything up and start her up. :spinner:

Looking good man. I guess I won't be seeing this at mod?

For the auto/manual cable removal. You should try to find a set of ratchet wrenches with a swivel head. It has done wonders for me. I've changed my cables twice now.

HAHA yeah took all day to get everything hooked up and by Thursday or Friday we should be able to crank her up.

The AEM wideband was hooked up by my friend but I can ask him how he did that since he was the one welding and doing the wiring for the wideband. I will get back to you about that asap.

Personally i think it is a horrible idea to start this car up first time using a maft. Thats something you should have added after you actually started up the motor. Its tricky to tune with that thing.

This is coming from experience. leave it in there and get an 8g maf for the time being.

haha yeah its kinda hard to explain what Im dealing with, and I read another thread about this and it seems that Galante has it working but still alil funky. I PM'ed Roman and not sure when he would get back bc I have no idea how busy he is and I try my best not to really bother him.

This is what I found from Galante:I was able to wire up my speedo 2 days ago. The Yellow wire from the speed sensor is the ground (connected to the battery), the White goes to the
Grey/Silver on the C17 connector and the Black goes to the Black/Yellow. My tank was half full at the time. I will try to get a full tank of gas and see if I will have the same problem run1206 had. :017:

Untill Roman or someone gets back to me, Im going to try this and hopefuly I wont creat a bomb instead.lol

now i tried this and it didn't work for me, but that doesn't mean anything, i might have a bad speed sensor. i just haven't got around to ordering a new one yet... i would personally make sure the speed sensor wires match what you hook upt o, aka power signal and ground, i think i got them confused and fried my sensor.

Only problem I ran into as you will notice in the video with all the smoke is that the turbo needs to be rebuilt, it was burning oil...and stupid Boomslang conversion harness is no good.

:piss2: BOOMSLANG SUCKS!!!

Pay $350.00 for what, for them to create a problem that I may have to fix...be careful with these people TGC. I couldn't use the Evo 8 ECU bc of this...car wouldn't spark but when using stock ECU car started up, just needs to have a nice tune and timed alil better. Too bad your motor blew up Jesus :(

It didnt blow up Chris you didnt stay long enough to know what happend ...but as I was going to tell everyone.lol

Ok bad luck happend to me guys, the motor yes did run but didnt stay on for some reason and we been wondering why didnt it stay running. Me and my friend Rob pulled the head off and found something very very verrryyy weird. There was a bronze long piece of metel thing in cylinder 2 and destroyed the piston and head. Thank God the vales are ok and cylinder wall was ok but piston took one hell of a beating. So now we gatta take the motor out and rebuild it.

Now how did this thing get into cylinder 2....well my guess is that this one fucker I was working with and had problems with. This guy lived in FL and was suppose to port the intake manifold but had it for like 4 months and I askked him if he worked on it yet, and never got an answer back from him. So I threatened him I would take him to court and shit like that...so his ex GF sent it back to me bc she felt bad cuz he was using her email and everything else and I would of had to take her to court instead of him. So she sent it back and what I didnt know is that the fucker put a piece of metal in the intake manifold. So when was started the car the metal got sucked in and destroyed cylinder 2. Now it has to be rebuilt but we will get there.

So to anybody buying an 03 outlander intake manifold...check it before you put it in the car.

Yeah i started pulling the motor apart and this week or after Chrismas...not sure yet ganna send the piston to CP and get a new one made. After, gatta put the engine back together again and right back in she goes...see how everything turns out.

Man I hope everything goes accordingly. I'm not doing turbo or nothing but after I do ALL the shit I gotta do she should be almost as good as new lol.

I ment to post this up but forgot. As you all know Im using an 03 Outlander intake manifold with an Evo 8 TB. If anybody in interested in doing the same here is how to set it up. I found this a while ago on Club3g.

I looked and looked and no one has ever made note of using an Evo 8 throttle body and TPS on a 4G64 Wiring Harness or 3G Eclipse if you would.

First off it bolts right up and does not include any cruise control equipment. Mostly because Evolutions don't have cruise control. Secondly both TPS's use the same connector which is 4 pins but only 3 wires. The wire colors differ and the pin placement does not match up. If you where to plug it up only 2 connections would be made of the 3 wires.

So your gonna need to pin out the connector or if your a barbarian cut the connector off the Evo your stealing your throttle body from. Pining the connector is easy and just requires a sharp pick and if its your first time a little bit of puzzle solving and effort.

Ok lets start... look at the connector with the open end facing you and the little clip part facing up. From left to right you have pins 1,2,3,4. The Evo use's pins 1,2,4 and the eclipse uses 1,3,4.

Simple Instructions:
Move Pin 1 on your connector to Pin 4.
Move Pin 3 on your connector to Pin 2.
Move Pin 4 on your connector to Pin 1.
(Basically swap the two out side wires with each other and then move the center wire to the empty hole.)

Defined Instructions:
Evo Pin 1 colored Green/Red, connects to ECU / Airflow Sensor /Map Sensor
Evo Pin 2 colored Green, connects to ECU / ACD
Evo Pin 4 colored Black, connects to Ground
Eclipse Pin 1 colored Black, connects to Ground
Eclipse Pin 3 colored Yellow, connects to ECU / Cruise Control
Eclipse Pin 4 colored Green/Yellow, connects to ECU / Airflow Sensor / and Map Sensor

Later Il post how I did the Knock sensor wiring and Speedsensor wiring.

Hey guys, not sure whos going to read this but I didnt want to waste a thread about this silly thing but I been trying to change out my ball joints but damn thing is F'n hard to do. I looked into the handbook about how they did it and in it, it says... I would have to chage the entire lower controll arm. Now I do not believe this at all...bc how the hell did they even get it in. If it goes in, than it can come out. Has anybody changed thier ball joints and have some tips for me? Thanx for the time who ever gets back to me.

You can replace the ball joints, BUT i emphasize but. The ball joints themselves are hard to find and they have to be pressed in a certain way, really just replace the lower control arm and you will be set, its a bummer but you could get the poly bushings at the same time and knock it all out.

Yeah I was thinking of changing out with better bushing also, but Im not sure Iff I wanna spend like 90 bucks each for a lower control arm. I know there is a tool to use to pop them out but looking at the ball joints...im not sure its going to work but imma give it a try. I was not sure if anybody else have done it and can give me tips on how they did it.

I had the same problem I couldn't find the ball joints haha, but the ball joint seperator should do the trick for ya, works great on other cars haha

The ball joint seperator will only dislodge the joint from being stuck in the knuckle, no way its getting it out of the arm. I got my ball joints from the local NAPA for $95/set. I already have a special ball joint press, so I used that to press them in. I just recently replaced the entire front lower control arms with new oem ones from the dealer. Wasnt too bad, I got them at shop cost which is $108/each. Its worth it because you get a brand new rust free arm with new bushings and balljoint.

^^^ x2 on that. Controls arm is better to get them oem. Rust free and good quality. I replaced both on mine from the dealer.

Once again Stewi to the rescue.lol Your right about that and it looks like its starting to rust. Thanks guys for the info.

Just wanted to give everyone an update whats going on with the car. It’s all done and put back together finaly.lol I started to crank the car last night and so far so good, but when I put the spark plugs in and connected the injectors the car cranked but did not start. It sounds like its mayyybe wants to start bc you can hear a Poof Poof like it wants to start. So now I gatta see if its either the spark plugs or injectors…im hopping its something easy and not a big problem. Also once again when I plug the Evo 8 ECU in the car doesn’t start just cranks, and when I switched back to stock ECU that’s when it seemed like it wanted to start. If you guys have advise please do share.

Timing? Or Immob, but you might have your evo ecu flashed for that already...

This is what happend last time when I put the Evo 8 ECU in and thought maybe it might be the Boomslang harness. So I sent it out for them to check it out and they sent it back to me, but it still does the same thing...cranks but no start. When I placed the stock ECU back I had a better chance starting the car. Do you think it might be the Boomslang harness again? I sent out my Evo 8 ECU to Aaron to take the immob off a while ago. Ill try to contact him and ask him about it. Tonight when I get home Im going to check to see if the spark plugs are firing with starter fluid and than take them out and see which one is working and which one is not. Im hoping its not the injectors that have the problem bc thats a bitch to see whats wrong since the fuel pump is working....shit is loud.lol For timing thats also a good guess hmmmmm. I honestly hate waiting here at work cuz all I wanna do is figure out the problem and get it started already but Im at work till 5...kill me.lol

I made my own harness with the specs from tgc, BUT you are an 02 and I'm an 03 and Im pretty sure that something with the MFI is doing this, do you have spark? are you injectors firing? is your fuel pump relay firing on start up? This is the same thing that I had, would crank, but no start, and I wasn't getting spark. So I was very sure that my issue was either the harness, or the imob, but I never got enough time to figure that stuff out before I left, and it bothers me lol

Well checked out everything on the car and the spark plugs are firing and the injectors work cuz the spark plugs are wet and smell like gas. Everything is working the way it should...so right now going to have the engine re-timed again to make sure thats ok. I put the stock ECU back on just to get it started but realized that that is prob why car wont start...bc its sending the injectors wrong signals bc its set for stock injectors and not Evo 8 550cc injectors, but when I put the Evo 8 ECU in the car just turned and no spark....nothing. I thing either the immob is still on there or F'n Boomslang F'ed up once more for the second time. Imma take the Evo 8 ECU to TurboTrix to check out if the immob been taken off and flash it to my engine modifications only for us to start her, but if that dosnt work....deff wiring problem with the Boomslang harness or wiring for the injectors...maybe with the resistor box. Its either to much fuel or not enough. If anybody have anything in mind and like to share pleaaase do. This is just an update.

Guess what guys, shes finally on and running. I drove her alil bit today and love the way it drives. Only thing is shifting is kinda weird...between 2nd and 3rd. Dosn't really get into gear but still goes and works. Heres a small bad video, later ill get a better one in better quality. Enjoy!!!

Thanks alot guys, and yeah it took a long time because of school and work but it was so worth the wait. The car sounds like a best with the stage 3 camshaft from RPW. Only thing is that idk if its bc the car is not fully tuned or gear ratio needs fixing or Im rusty at shifting gears, but 2nd and 3rd make the car wobble so I have to ride on the clutch alil longer before letting it go. Speedo still needs fixing and reverse light...after brake in full tune and boost this baby up =)

Carl!!! So sorry buddy, I been so busy so a long time now and been trying to get back to slowing my life down. No joke...school is killing me right now and it was so hard to really have time of my own which is why I handed the car down to Turbo Trix to get it started. Let chill soon buddy.

Lets chill when its warm or something lol I like the snow for about a day then get tired of it. I know what you mean, ive been in and out of school because its hard to get a job. I pay for what I can afford even if its one class a semester.

I remember from the edgewater meet your car was the loudest one there lol Are you still in between the 2 towns like before?

Hahaaaa yeah my car was pretty damn loud...got pulled over so many times but never got a ticket which is kinda weird, maybe bc I was always on the highway.lol Yeah man Im still located in Carteret and Manalapan...mostly in Carteret near Woodbridge or rahway.

Yeah bro I kept the car at work for the night and just got back from driving the car home and it seems 2nd and 3rd are kinda a problem...like I have to ride on the clutch alil for it not to wobble and feels like its about to shut off so I have to push back slowly on the clutch, but that could be bc it need a full tune or bc its a brand new clutch. We will see what happened, and Im driving like so slow anywhere I go with her.lol Other than that man, speedo fix and knock sensor to get readings. Engine runs really strong and so aggressive with the Stage 3 camshaft. Oil pressure seems good, and the engine is running rich so deff ganna get a nice full tune after everything is working.
If this problem with the tranny keeps happening with 2nd and 3rd imma take it back to Turbo Trix to see what they see and if fixed put a full tune on it.

Isaurio
12-02-2011, 01:15 PM
Good. Yeah. You need a knock sensor to get the tune going. Maybe is not the clutch is just losing power if you ruining to rich. The higher the rpm the richer it will get.

Galantfan88

Good. Yeah. You need a knock sensor to get the tune going. Maybe is not the clutch is just losing power if you ruining to rich. The higher the rpm the richer it will get.

That deff could be it, idle is at 1000 rpm and trying to get it down but for some reason the throttle body wont let me adjust it. Im going to make a much better video later and show you what I mean. What you just said sounds like whats going on, but how come when I push the clutch back in alil it starts to run smoother?

Isaurio
12-02-2011, 02:29 PM
Yeah. This is the thing. When you go with bigger cams you need to tune the idle. You need to mess with it and also you need to increase the min for close loop so at start up the car could get a good amount of fuel on open loop for a longer period of time. the computer is trying to bring the idle down to 703 RPM or so *evo ECU*, with the bigger cam there is more air coming in so it will increase the RPM to compensate for the extra air.

About the clutch, is because since the engine is weak at that point, by pushing the clutch back in you are taking the load off the engine. You will see that also like in a N/a car at very low rpm like in second gear or 3rd the clutch is trying to stop the engine and the engine dont have the HP to move it fast. so you feel the car drag.

Yep, I understand now. After I finish up the wiring with the speedo and alil more brake in Im taking the car to get a full tune so we can fix out these lil kinks. Can you do me a favor and send me a clear way of getting the speedo done. Reason why I ask is bc my wire color is different than others (white, yellow, black). I assumed black was ground but people are saying nooooo its not. So I am lost forever on this unless I have it really explained to be properly.
