Maxima harness to JDM Tails...UPDATED

Well I picked up the wiring harness today from Nissan and though I haven't begun to reconvert yet here's what I can tell. The brake and turn sockets on the Maxima are 7443/7440 respectively like DANJ told us, and they go in perfectly on the sockets the DANJ said they would (JDM's reverse 7440 and tail/brake 7443). The Maxima only uses 3 bulbs, 1 for the tail/brake, one for reverse, and turn signal bulb. The reverse on the Maxima is a 921 bulb, which is incompatible with the JDM tails (well, I say it's incompatible but it fits, you just need a way to attach it to the taillight since the socket is actually too small). What I am able to utilize from the Maxima harness therefore is the 7443 socket for my brake (I *really* needed a dual filament bulb for the brake as opposed to my single right now), and the 7440 for my reverse light. I haven't actually modified it yet, but as of right now that's how it fits (per side). I'd still have to get another 7443 socket for each parking light if I wanted the dual brake light function on the JDM Galants, right now it looks just like a 2003 Camry would (brake light lights up, parking light remains 5w since it's single filament). Sweet! That's good to know that they do indeed fit. I guess you could get some tail light harnesses from a 2000-2001 Maxima and that would give you two more 7443 sockets/bulbs as well as two 1156 sockets/bulbs incase you need them.

Eh what do you mean? The JDM Galant harnesses are supposed to plug directly into the 8g JDM taillights...

don't the 2001 - 2003 have the same tailights why would i buy a 01-02 "and" 02-03 harness, couldn't i just buy two of the 01. I am just kinda confused. :?

Righties here goes my explanation based on what I can gather from your confusion. The 01-02 Maximas use 7443 for the brake/tail, and 1156 for the turn. The 02-03 Maximas use 7443 for the brake/tail, and 7440 for the turn. The JDM Galant lamps use 2 7443 bulbs for brake/tail, 1 7440 for reverse, and 1 1156 for the turn. Thus, if you had bought two of the 01-02 Maxima tails you're still lacking the 7440 for reverse, which is only available on the 02-03 Maximas. This is just per side, of course...your grand total of wiring harnesses would be 4 in all...2 of the 02-03 and 2 of the 01-02 harnesses. Or just 4 of the 02-03 to avoid all confusion since you can adapt the USDM Galant socket to the JDM Galant turn socket. As for the reverse lights on the Maxima those are not useable at all by the Galant.

Eh...sorry no part number. Be aware though dealerships do not have this part handy, it's special order only. As for adapting the JDM Galant harness to USDM I'd say only the 1156 socket is usable https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

I really dunno what you're trying to do so I can't say for sure. All I know is if you're adapting the JDM Galant taillight harness to the USDM you can only use the JDM turn signal socket/bulb, but the remaining 3 lights are too small.

Whoa...you can get JDM taillights with JDM harness for that low? Shoot I paid 280 for mine, plus 120 bucks for Maxima harnesses and bulbs, plus 60 bucks labor. If you can get it for that price more power to ya https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif
