View Full Version : how do my spark plugs look?

I've been diagnosing my engine's problems for so long I don't even know what normal plugs look like anymore.

What is with the spotting on some of the tips? I can't scrape it off with my fingernail so it's really on there. I've matched the actual plugs to these pictures and the colors are pretty spot on, so what you see is what I see. Thoughts? Thanks everyone

They definitely dont look very lean. How long have you been using those?

sry for off topic but what are some brand for good performance spark plugs?

auto lite iridiums, not bad for the money.

yea they do look like they get pretty hot, re-gap um.

they're gapped to factory spec, and i used those for about a month. you say they DONT look lean seth?

They look fine Matt. If the AFR was rich the plugs would have black, smokey layer of composites. If it was lean the plugs would be white

your distributor is over 200k miles, and fifteen years old? I'd say your coil is on its way out.

Fact, new coil better than your coil. Too bad its a part of the distributor.
