View Full Version : Exhaust sizing confusion

Well I recently bought some OBX headers with a downpipe (please no obx bashing). I'm looking for any exhaust to go with them and install it all at once. My stock exhaust is all rusted and needs to be replaced anyway.

Now here's my questions. I thought the stock exhaust piping on a 4g64 was 2.25" but some exhausts say direct bolt on with 2.5" piping. My obx downpipe is 2.25" piping so I obviously have to get 2.25" piping for fitment. So what is the stock piping size?

I just want an Ebay exhaust to replace my stock one. More power would be nice but that's not what I'm going for. Most of the Ebay ones say 2.5" with direct bolt on so I don't know. Am I measuring my stuff wrong or something? Or would the 2.5" fit? I have seen a few listed at 2.25" pipe but they usually have the stupid rainbow tip.

Thanks

If youre not going to boost 2.5'' would be nice. I have a 3'' on my car now and im N/A but ill eventually boost and i didnt see the point of spending twice.

they are direct bolt on. I believe the inlet itself is actually 2.25", however the rest of the pipe is 2.5"

Ok, thank you. That's what I needed to hear.

Thanks

Just to be sure, post a link of the ebay muffler so we can have a look. You need to make sure that the inlet size is 2.25" and if it doesn't specifically say that in the ad, I'd be suspicious.

OBD headers are nice for now I have that on my car but soon going boosted, but go to like rayco or something and have them do a custom pipe for you. I did that and they did an awesome job right now my pipe sizing is 2.75'' all the way with high flow cat, and sounds awesome. I wish you luck on it.
