i came across a few threads a while back talking about 18" rims on 8gs but i cant remember whether they fit with a drop or not. but im assuming if i go off the sizing chart and get 225/40, they SHOULD fit without rubbing if i were to get megan lowering springs, right?

now why would you put 18 on the car?
you are going to have a crappy ride plus all the pot holes and tiny tires....its just gonna suck
in my opinion just put 17 on and wrap em with some nice rubber and lower it
it will be better

why wouldn't u put 18's on this car? do you have any experience with 18's on the 8G? 17's are only marginally better for comfort but frankly look puny on such a big car (the only 17's on 8G's that don't look too small are WIDE or low offset). 18's (and bigger) look MUCH better and the comfort tradeoff is also dependent on suspension setup and wheel/tire quality... the bigger you go the stronger the wheels have to be to withstand road imperfections. now ask urself why so many of the hot cars on this site have 18's, 19's and even 20's.

fitting depnds on width and offset. stay close to 18x7.5 +45 w/ 225/40r18 and you will be safe from rubbing even dropped deep.

I agree with Reelax 100 % on the while size statement, I realize that I'm on 17s, but I do that for two reasons, I go through tires like a mofo, and because I couldn't find any works vs xx in 18 inch size that would clear my brembos and still have a prayer of fitting on my car.

17's look tiny on our cars like he said. I have 19's and in happy. just depends on the way you drive. if your a speed freak get 17's cuz your gonna eff up anything bigger. i drive nice and slow so the 19's are perfect

if youre getting 18's with those specs, you have nothing to worry about, no fender rolling, no nothing, will make those wheels rub.

17 are small, especially when they have a lip cuz it makes it that much smaller. Tried my SSR-GP-0's and they didnt look right. needed to dump the car to make them look decent.

I used to have the megan springs on stock struts with 18x8--2254018 and they fit nice....u have to roll the rear fender though bcuz the megans start to sag after a awhile and rub...

you however had 8" wide wheels and probably a lower offset than +45mm... on deep compression that setup will sometimes rub (especially camber corrected). i know for a fact that 18x7.5 +45 w/ 225/40r18 will NEVER rub lowered up to 2.5" (not camber corrected). i had that fitament for 5+ years.

so did it sag because your springs were bad or the shocks/struts? or both?

I have 17's on mine with a lip and lowered, but i also wish i had gone with 18's with no lip.

You'll be fine with your described setup. 18 x 7" or 18 x 7.5" with 225/40 rubber works well, although once you enter 8"+ widths and offsets varying far beyond stock then you could have rubbing issues.

18's are a solid ride, tire quality does play a big role due to a shorter sidewall. You will handle nicely (better than stock) if lowered and on the larger wheel. I have since downgraded to 17's from 18's but it's all personal preference. One thing to consider, which I ignored with my 18's, is the WEIGHT of the wheel. Lighter high quality construction would be my choice.

Eclipse 17's that fit perfectly with Mitsu lugs:

man, looking at your car, the 18s look almost too big. oh well, i still have about 6 months to decide what i want to do.

18s are little wheels, go 19" or go home.

Other than that refer to the fitment chart that is clearly posted and stickied at the top of this forum...

if you get 17's u will regret it and wish you had gotten 18's. after a while even my 18's looked tiny to me and i stepped up to 19's. now after seeing my homeboy's galant (BILLET), i'm seriously thinking of going to 20's.

her's my 18's back in the day:
