I have some rust on the driver and passenger side rear wheelwell and was wondering what you guys think the best way to get rid of it w/o spending a few hundo. I was thinking of sanding it down and buying some of the oem paint to repaint the area.

if it is just surface rust, hit it up with a wire brush and then spray it with some rubberized undercoating.

this is where it is. i guess not really in the wheel well, more like on the paint of the outside if the wheel well. wouldnt the rubber undercoating look odd though when it is on the actual paint?

get the rust off the panel with a wire brush.
then sand with 320 grit.
mask the sanded parts and put some primer down.
remove the mask and wetsand the sharp edges of the primer with 400.
spray your base and clear.
wetsand the newly painted part with 800-1200 after it dries.
then use scratchX to remove the wetsand marks and polish it.

also, where the rust is, the metal is starting to warp, so it isnt smooth, its more wavy, do you still feel that i should use sand paper, because i feel that if i sand it down there might not be any metal left

well, if you dont sand the area down rust will just keep coming back. If it's to the point where you will lose metal if you grind it down then it's time to get a quote for a body shop to do some rust repairs.

sounds about right, since i know most body shop (a reputable one and will do it right) will most likely respray the whole quarter because they will need to weld in a metal patch for the area that are missing workable metal. Blending a spot after rust has gone through it is pretty hard.
