Sorry if this has been discussed previously but, has anybody tried to do the manual swap to an 8G using the 6 speed trans from the 3000GT or even the 6 speed trans that Mitsu is now using on the 2009-2010 eclipse GT V6 special edition?

The Trans from the 4G eclipse GT has a a push style clutch and not a pull style like the 3G eclipse GT transmission. Given that the F5M42(3G gt trans) bolts to the 6G75, the F6MBA(4G gt trans) should bolt to the 6G72/74.

How about the 6spd trans of the 3000GT...would that work? given that the 3000gt had a 3.0L V6 DOHC?

I believe 3000gt 6g72 are rotated on 180deg in the engine bay. I dont think what you ask is possible. even if it bolted up, youll end up having 5/6/ reverse and 1 forward speed, since these transmissions have a shaft that turns the engine direction rotation at 180deg. 3000gt tranny is more likely to work with 7gen

the 6G72 in the 3000GT is oriented the opposite of our SOHC 6G72.
