I bought a 1999 galant earlier this year, and I'm looking into swapping the engine. What do you think would be my best bet? I'm working on a relatively tight budget.
Any input is appreciated!

^X2 plus if you wanted someone to answer you would need to give more info. Do you have a 4 cylinder or a V6?

If your on a budget not sure if this is something you wanna do since engine cost money and other parts you need for to complete the swap. It really depends on you and what you want.....if your going for a 4cyl there is no point in it unless your modding the engine, 6g72 v6 motor has more HP AND TQ so that would be nice but why not buy a v6 galant for a good price....other than that I dont think your ready for the 3.5l swap. How much your willing to spend and what is your plan??????

I'd say my limit is around 2500 or 3000. And I'm looking at 4g63ts for the most part, I'd need a tranny too...bone stock 4cyl automatic...ew.

If your looking to do an Evo swap.....im not sure if its going to be less than a 3000 job. Motor alone cost about 3000-4000 plus tranny depends where you look and other parts you need to complete swap and brand new parts you need to buy and installing the motor and tranny. You might wanna think about this again

I've found 4g63s for 1.4k engine only, and my grandpa thinks he can pull a 5-speed tranny from one of the galants laying around the shop.

is that 4g63 from an evo 8 9?...also 5 speeds from factory are pretty rare?..i hope you know that anything from 89-98 galants 90-99 eclipse will not work on an 8g the engine/tranny are reversed belts are on the opposite side

I'm not sure which it's from. And the tranny is actually from another 99 Galant! :)

Yeah, I know...
I might start a build thread and post pics/info on the parts I'm looking into buying before I actually buy them, so you guys can help me make sure I don't screw up.
