i have had a megan catback on my 8g for about 3 months and just recently, when i accelerate slowly there is this odd noise coming from the passenger side of the car. it only does it when i step on the gas and if i accelerate fast, then it does not make this noise. any ideas as to what this noise is??

Get the car on a lift, have someone sit inside, and have them rev the engine. Check to see if its rubbing anywhere. Fairly simple to check.

alright will do, it is kind of odd though. it was doing it today for awhile and then i tried to show my friend what it sounded like and i was really pissed because then it wasnt doing it. it just started getting cooler outside the last couple of weeks, so maybe that has something to do with it.

might be heat shields

might be heat shields

Yeah that's a possibility. I just recently removed mine because they were in horrible shape after 10 years. Aside from age, winter conditions and eventually lowering the car took quite a toll on them.

it is a big vibrating noise. where are the heat shields located?? i drove a lot today and i am almost thinking that there may be something loose in the door panel that vibrates when i accelerate slowly because that is when the exhaust is deepest and loudest and vibrates the most. just a possibility but i am not positive.

anybody know where the heat shields are specifically?

You have exhaust piping... and then there are thin metal pieces surrounding the exhaust piping. Those are heat shields.

Did you get the car in the air and stand underneath it while someone revved the engine?
