I was looking around RPW website for a camshaft and was ganna go with the stage 3 turbo camshaft but than saw that they have an HKS 272/300 camshaft for sale for our cars. I was wondering if anybody would know if that camshaft was completely custom made from HKS or is this camshaft from a 4g63 motor. I would really like to know instead of spending the 545.00 on one camshaft.lol when I can spend alil over 300.00 from the US. Anybody know???

not absolutely sure but I think the 4g63 cams fit the 4g64 head if Im right in my thinking there interchangeable....I think the cam sensor has to be modified....never tryed so dont go off half cocked just on my word

Im not sure about that cuz I already have the pistons all set up and stuff and the last thing I need is the camshaft. Dont the pistons have to be changed also if I run a DOCH head? I mean ill think about changing it but so far I have everything all set up and ready to go but the camshaft so Im not sure. I really wanted to go ahead and build up the SOCH motor and see how badass it can be. If the 4g63 camshaft is interchangeable that would be awesome but im going to wait to see what other people say. Thanx for the help man

I dont beleve that the pistons need changed... unless you some how did like an old school pop up piston...It makes sence the cam would be the same....call a junk yard and see if they have a stock 2g sohc cam and test fit.. if its no good you didnt just drop hundreds os dollars for nothing. also did any eclipes even come sohc.. thought they were all dohc

I could say do the headswap, but honestly slapping in a big cam would be a lot of fun too.
RPW reccomends their HKS grind. Its not actually an HKS camshaft from what I've read, jsut a cam matching those specs.
RPW products are top notch. You will need some valve springs to really benifit from the beefy cam. I THINK, but am not entirely sure that 4g63 springs are compadible with 4g64.... someone correct me if i'm wrong

but damn they're pricey

It has been proven that Beehive springs from a ford 4.6l head will fit our cylinder head and fit the stock retainers...so I checked out the specks and max lift and the beehive springs will do fine with the stage 3 camshaft. Thanx for the help Redline and DOCHstunr, I came down to making a choice and thats to stay strong to what my planes were which is to create a fully built SOCH Motor.lol Thnx guys always a pleasure to get help from TGC
