First ever National Meet! [Archive]

Ive been thinking for the last couple years about how cool it would be to get a National meet, and why not kick off the next decade with a Giant all TGC US meet. The coolest location that i can think of would be to go to the famous deals cap as a whole and just have a blast for a weekend. Im starting the tread now so we can plan it out and get it set in stone. I want to see this happen, so post up your ideas we got all winter and spring to get this thing going.

meh, i'ld sooner drive to Normal MOD. its something I've been thinking about the past couple of years but the lack of excitement in Normal MOD has turned me off

Iowa....its central..... and we have corn..... and I can rent my national guard armory for free.... Big lot.... any takers? Bring a tent.... lots of grass. and a hotel right next door.

Im in for whatever we come up with, Deals gap is just something i have wanted to experience. I forgot about the national TGC bbq lol and i havent been here for long enough to know about the national Vegas meet haha.

Lets get some Locations rolling, like central so that everybody can attempt to make it and we dont have people driving 20-25 hrs to make it, even though we should do a 24 hr rally.

That would be pretty cool. And those of us coming from same directions could even travel in groups to the meet. I think it would be a good time to have a pack of Galants cruising along the highway, similar to how they do the Hot Rod Power Tour.

TEXAS! lol I'm in FL, I'm Defiantly not doing a 5 day drive on a turbo even tho it would probably be a blast (to las vagas) i got family in Houston and Ohio, i will do a NY possibly, make it a good day Saturday on like a week that's all schools out lots of planning to do

us southerners could pick a hotal and like crash in it like 10 guys in a room NO HOMO so itll be cheaper and then caravan from there up to NY or people in between here and texas, just throwing out ideas

Id be up for a Deals gap, that place is amazing.

And there is absolutely nothing exciting in Iowa. I advise everyone to avoid this state ... But its probably safer then the redneckery incesting Missouri :P

this was the first national meet. we had attendees from los angeles to new york! BGR had shirts made for all the attendees.

i, of course, was 3 hours late.

I was gonna suggest vegas

I think under a 16 hour drive I would come, east coast can set up a meeting point and a time and cruise together. Im just saying if we get this going I am not waiting past 12:30 if we all say meet in ohio at 12:30 to cruise there. 16 hours will be enough without waiting 2 hoursfor Denver or someone, sorry D your name was first that popped in my head.

i don't think i've ever even put it on. BGR gave it to me when i finally showed up at red rocks near dusk, then we went and got a table at RUM JUNGLE that night (u should have gone w/ us, it was fun)... was also funny that you were at the meet but i was so late that i didn't get to meet you until MOD 2005 three years later!

i've been on it once...........in a stock 06 impala lt police package (my mom's old car) even in the back seat of that thing (on a family vacation) it was dope......although if this is for real whether i make it or not......watch out for cops they've been cracking down on that stretch of road like crazy and there are other roads in the area that are just as good or better without near as much traffic or cops

I started a thread about this exact same thing WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY back, everyone was interested, but obviously it didn't happen, if we do a TRUE NATIONAL meet, it needs to be somewhere in a central location.

tennessee is kinda closer to a central location.. but we need a location with something to offer not just a central point.. like deals gap is a famous stretch of road and i think it would be fun for many of us to line it up and cruise down it

Then East Coasters (or West Coasters) have to drive 30 hours, being central allows for drive times to be reduced for people from clear across the country. But best bet is a National Meet Day a la 2007/2008.

Then have a National Meet that all can attend with or without their Galants. After all it is about the people and the enthusiasm of automobile tuning in general, and Mitsubishi's in specific.

Depends upon how much your speeding ticket is :)

But really though if we are to do this a central location would be the only logical choice. The problem with that is that most people here would not go just due to the lenght of the drive to get there. Lets face it if we would be doing this it would have to be no less than a two day event. Also factor in that most of us would take of a week for this wich mean that your vacation was in essence spent driving to & from the meet.

For this to work we have to do it like the last time when we all had a BBQ on the same day.
Sorry but this is the only way I see this taling place. This topic has been brought up many a time before & it just fizzled out.
