I'm at about 62,000 miles and I'm noticing my timing belt is loud as hell; belt dressing is not doing a thing for it.

Anyone have access to the tune up guide from Mitsubishi? (mile markers). Also what's the typical cost for this tune up? I have heard typically around $200-$300. Was thinking about letting my local Midas take care of it for me as they have been amazing with labor costs... they rotated my rotors and checked my entire brake system for FREE.

Have you ever replaced the belt ? if not then get it right away. they should be changed like every 50,000 miles

That's the problem, no idea of the maintenance history as I bought the car at 57,000 miles.

Car was a rental once (up to 30000 miles) and privately owned in Florida.

Repossessed and bought in New York by myself.

Exactly, just short on cash at the time. Makes me hesitate to drive the car.

well did you want to get it done at a dealership ? because my dad works at Gezon Mitsu/Nissan/Volks and i get stuff done there all the time, i can call in and ask how much it would be to get a timing belt done if you want.

You didn't put belt dressing on your timing belt, you put belt dressing on your accessory belts. Go to a parts store and replace your accessory belts.

In the mean time, save up for someone to do your tbelt. You are at 62k, I wouldnt worry, but I wouldnt put it off too long.

I don't know if this is related to the timing belt but occasionally my speedometer will jump quickly (ex: from 25mph - 40mph) while accelerating.

DEFINITELY get your belt changed. Mine just broke like 2 weeks ago, and I can personally vouche for how much of a huge headache this is, as can most people on here...

Do yourself a favor and replace it yourself if money is tight, (although some people don't recommend doing it yourself) but if your handy then it's about a 5 hour job. It's a bit tricky, but if cash is an issue and you need a new belt, I'd get to it ASAP before it snaps.

yeah I talked to the service guys and they said a 4cyl would be around 500...and a v6 like 900, so i would definetly try and do it yourself or look around.

Yeah I want to get it replaced ASAP, but on top of that I need to get the tuneup done... That would be almost $1,000 total. Anyone know if the problem I described with my speedometer is related to the timing belt? or do I have another issue on my hands? (I have only noticed it skip a few times)

Tranny fluid can cause the speedometer to slip?
