i'm about to buy a 94 JDM vr4.
i've heard that the gearbox used in those is known to break easily. in the car i'm getting, the 5sp. manuel is a bit stuffed. reverse doesnt work and shifts from 1st to 2nd are a bitch. however the dude has already gotten another gearbox to be used for a rebuild.
so i wanna know if its kinda common for those boxes to break, or did he just trash it way too hard. or a combo??
do the boxes last if the car is left in stock form?
what other box might be a good replacement if i wanted to upgrade?
are the boxes electronically controled? if yes, to what extent?
