So i had a curb accident last Saturday and it bent my steel rim and ended up damaging the front left control arm and ball joint. Two shops told me the strut could be gone too, but they physically don't see any damage to it. I was going to replace all struts anyways. My question is could i get away with just doing the two front and leave the rears alone? To me it seems the front would go out faster but after 178xxx miles maybe it doesn't matter.

I also though now would be the time to possibly lower the front to get rid of the gap. Would i only need to lower the front?

I would just replace all the struts and save yourself the trouble.

After 178000 miles it doesn't matter, replace all four struts.

might as well go all the way with lowering

ur going to have to buy a set of 4 springs (they don't only sell front springs seperately) so u might as well use them all. also lowering springs have a higher spring rate than stock so if u only replace half of the car and keep the other half stock, it will be unbalanced.

Ok, I'll probably do two struts at a time, and do the rears in a few weeks, money is tight for me and i just need to get back on the road.

As for springs, what brand should i go for? And what height should be good enough? Don't want to go too low and hopefully it's not that expensive.

Go for Tein. Haven't heard many bad things about them.

I just finished replacing the control arm myself a couple days ago, and went in for an alignment this morning. There is a change, but the steering wheel isn't quite straight still. When i move it straight it goes left a bit. Does it need to be redone or could a tire be off balance?

If you changed suspension components (control arms) yes, it needs to be realigned.
