A/C compressor squeak

have new belts, and the tension is set correctly but the a/c compressor is squeaking! my a/c does not work idk if its the clutch that is semi engaging but wont because of wear? how do i check if the clutch is engaging? when the car is running and i loosen the belt the squeak goes away but the tension is improper and when the wheel is turned it slips bad. need some help!!

have someone turn the ac on while your watching you'll see the clutch engage.

since my a/c has never worked when i have gotten the car what will it look like when it does? and is that the squeeking i hear? i will still squeak wheather i proceed to turn on the a/c of leave it off

You might want to have you AC pressure checked just to make sure your compressor is still working. But ill bet that the comp is stuck up thats why you hear the belt squeak.
