Official Mitsu's Take On the Dragon 2010 National Meet

Its that time to start up the official thread for the new National Meet! The 1st Annual Mitsubishi's Take On the Dragon Meet is fast approaching. Gameplan for the weekend will surround the trip to the Tail of The Dragon US HWY 129. For those who haven't heard about this road, it is one of the biggest car enthusiast roads in the country. In an 11 mile stretch, this hwy contains 318 turns. Its every car nuts dream.

What better place to meet new friends, see old friends, enjoy the scenery all around and get out and actually enjoy the road.

There will be a thread starting January 1st, 2010 for lodging. Current plans are as follows:

Anyone that wants to stay in a cabin in Gatlinburg, TN will need to place a 50 dollar deposit by the end of January to Special_K. This 50 dollar deposit will ensure your stay at the cabin rental. This 50 dollar deposit will also go towards your overall rental fee for the cabin. Based upon past experiences the cabin rental should cost between 80-130 dollars for the entire weekend per person. That’s 3 nights of lodging for 25-40 bucks a night per person. What a deal when you account for renting a full cabin with a pool table, video arcade, hot tube, full kitchen and scenic views. Stay tuned for the official lodging thread.

The only thing that is planned for this meet is the Rally over to Tail of the Dragon and spending time over there. The rest of the time can be spent in a infinite amount of ways. There are plenty of things to do in the area like:

Hiking
Horseback Riding
Site Seeing downtown Gatlinburg
Eating Out downtown
Go-karts
Putt-Putt
DollyWood
Driving other roads
Chillen at the Cabin
Sleeping
Fishing

The possibilities are endless.

I think I found the place we will be staying at.

Sleeps up to 30 people. The weekend we are there is the "Prime" season. $735+12.75% tax per night so that comes out to...

$829 total per night.
If 30 People stay there: $28 bucks per person per night
If 25 People stay there: $33 bucks per person per night
If 20 People stay there: $42 bucks per person per night

So we we only get 20 people to go that is still only $126 per person for 3 nights. Not bad at all. When you look into things a little bit more, most hotels/motels in the area go for $100-150 per night. If you stay in a $150 per night room with 4 people, it will cost $113 per person for the weekend. Wouldnt it be nicer to spend $13 bucks more and stay in a luxury cabin???

yeah its a bit of a drive, but 140 for the rooms and then figure in like 200 bucks for gas and food and what not its only 340 for a 3 day vacation.

MONDAY 12 APRIL 2010 THE DRAGON WILL BE OPEN AT 8 AM.

Ok gang great news.....it is official well all but the lawyer to say ok. TDOT will build a fence at the state line with a gate. They will open the Dragon for use from 8am until 8pm from the NC side only. There is still no way to get past the slide so you will have to turn around after the Dragon and return. Two THP will patrol as well as Graham county EMS will be the medical support.
