So this is how I got the car in 07:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/weirdo1808/sig-1.jpg

Came on 18s with a bit of rear quarter panel damage. First thing I did was throw on Falken 512s 225/40-18. The tires were great, but I wasn't a fan of the 18s or the thin tire side wall.

Not much happened then I went off to college and she was parked on the 18s.

I hit a curb last winter on an icy road, bought my 89 Montero and parked the G again. This time I started to put in more work to the G.

I fit mesh to both grills and the lower bumper.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/weirdo1808/100_1948.jpg

Then I painted me some orange fogs :)

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/weirdo1808/100_1975.jpg

Then I cleared the corners and painted them the same color as fogs.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/weirdo1808/cid634.jpg

Made a gear selector light there is a tut by me for this.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/weirdo1808/Park-1.jpg

My girl got me some blue LEDs for gauges.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/weirdo1808/100_2068.jpg

Yup finally started doing more work to her in March of 09

Back on the road still on 18s lowered.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/weirdo1808/100_2120-1.jpg

The front passenger 18 went flat, that was second time. The wheel was damaged so I replaced the 18s with 17s which I preferred.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/weirdo1808/100_2134.jpg

Yup this is still stock for now except I cut out the bottom of my intake and put K&N filter in it.

Btw guys this is what I am gonna be trying to fit in my fog housings next week http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/weirdo1808/Decorated%20images/ScionTCProjectorsHalogenH11.jpg?t=1262635337

If I like how they look I may get some 35W 3000K HIDs in them

Me my bro and my bro in law do all the work. I may pay my mechanic to do things like alternator just so I have someone to yell at if my battery doesnt charge, but thats about it.

Update: Just ordered female 800 and male H11 gonna wire the 2 together and use it to connect to the H11 fog bulbs. No cutting my stock wires for now at least.

Ordered Halogen 3500K colored bulbs to see if I like them or if I would prefer white in the projectors.

Cant wait til all the parts are in.

Ill let you know how they fit. I would definitely suggest the dealer I used they are very friendly and have great customer service with a range of mdx tsx and s2k projectors.

They also have ballasts and everything if you ask them before they ship out. Overall a great vendor and wants to see pics of the retrofit after its done.

Those are where I think I am gonna mount them. My biggest thing in this project is I wanted to make it so I can plug the stock fogs back in if I wanted to. So the original harness wont be cut and yes I can still slide the stock glass back in

there are more worthwhile mods for your car on a colege student budget than fog light projectors. air intake, muffler, radio, navigation.

i miss those college days....

I have intake dont need radio or nav. may do an exhaust soon, but I am doing full header back 2 1/4 at that point not 2.5

I have 3 lcd screens so I am contemplating a car-puter with 3 screen output. Not sure where I am heading yet. I already did projector fogs cost me 50 bucks.

Thanks for the advice though Aaron.

Requested in Ebay Proj Head Thread so I figured I would post here as well.

Un adjusted cut off of the halogen projectors with the provided H1 halogens. These will be adjusted once I get my ddm HIDs installed and I can see the cut off lines of the halogen projector fogs once the mounting hardware is done being fabricated.

I think so to, If i am right then the v6 i4 have the same diameter piping and I have 2.25in exhaust piping.

03-Galant-ES
01-09-2010, 09:39 PM
iirc, the stock exhaust piping is 2 1/4" already

I thought it was 2 1/8 and a bit restrictive I was going to use a super cat with rpw headers eclipse piping and a nice muffler I dont need it to be super aggressive I want a nice clean sound and want the back pressure to still be there as i am not planning to turbo soon.

Hmmm if you guys are right 2.5 may be the way.

qnz
01-09-2010, 09:57 PM
i would buy a magnaflow muffler and call it a day.

The gains you would see on a full mandrel bent 2.25" exhaust with a high flow cat and exhaust would be maybe 5-10 hp at most. That is nothing to write home about.

There have been dyno tests in the import magazines recently of high-flow-cats vs stock cats, vs gutted cats, vs no cats at all. They all performed the same, giving only a 1-3 hp defference between them.

Also, the header will make your engine sound worse instead of better. There was a Galant (I dont think hes a member here) that came to the TGCNY bbq and we heard his car coming from maybe a 1/2 mile away. We were all looking at each other going, "what is that sound???" Then we see a Galant fly by. it was an loud WAAAAAA sound. IIRC, he said he had an obx header.

krispy03 had a DC Sports header and he said, and I quote, "it sounds like a farting duck".

I know how hard it is to mod on a college student budget. Just tryin to save you guys money.

Galantfan88

You should buy shrouds for the fog lights. I would search ebay for some that would fit. It looks kinda ghetto with it just sitting in the hosing with no shrouds. But it's looking like it will look good once your done though.

I am doing retorfits in my headlights and this is the projector I will be using.

They have a bit of blue around the edges, but are pure white on the road. Kinda like the stuff they use OEM on some cars now.

If i do jdm its lower part of front, sides and rear. I like 02-03 tails and I like these heads so I would modify the bumper.

Ok so update. I just put the deposit on the JDM rear bumper with extensions GB from Cali. I will be looking to acquire the sides and fender flares over the course of the year, but I am unsure what to do with the front bumper. I am considering picking up a spare stock one that is all scratched up on ebay getting some fg and a nice lip and going to work. Yes I do have fg experience on an 89 fiero GT and on a Formula SAE car my first year of college. What you guys think?

Personally I love the front OEM bumper of our G's (02/03). I dont plan on changing mine either so i'mma be adding either a VRG front lip or a Civic Mugen lip to compliment it in time. Its a great idea and since you have fg experience you can easily accomplish that. I would go for it bro.....

Yeah I am thinking a mugen lip and either one or 2 splitters color matched on the sides to give it that agressive, but clean look. I also am trying to figure out what to do with my grills. I am considering cutting the top mounting piece of the 02/03 bumper making it flush and then possibly getting an after market 99-01 grill. Best of both worlds. And I am also thinking of doing FG over the projectors I will be installing in the bumper and making the fog housing more flush.

Ill let you know as time progresses. I am accumulating parts right now and gonna test fit everything to the car. I am gonna get all the damage fixed and get everything painted together once this car is no longer my daily. I used to work at a body shop I will probably just ask them on a slow day if I could paint my car. Prep will be done by me and I may get away with just paying for the paint not the labor.

Um hello, A plethora of JDM grills await, just get JDM heads to match, or make your own Zenki Aero style USDM grill, the possibilities are endless, I'm looking for a cheap 02-03 bumper of my own so I can do this, it's really pretty simple if you take your time

yeah its very simple. I am not really in the market right now...When my tax return comes though I want to get everything I need so when I get a daily I can toss the G in the shop then park her in a garage until meets and summer weekends.

Hehe you noticed that too? Yeah Ive been working things out in my head trying to figure out what I can do. I may just mount a clear plastic there for the time being, but I doubt much of anything will splash up into my bumper into the projector housing and effect the bulb. The bulb sits in the metal part that only has a half cut opening so it doesnt blind people.

So for now I am rolling as is until bulb blows :) Then innovation will have to step in.

If you need any help let me know, In order to keep you fog housing to be able to use with the stock fogs it is a bit more labor intensive than if you want to drill holes everywhere.

I still need to pick up a stock 02-03 front and new style sides. Not sure if the VIP spoiler group buy will be under way, but if it doesnt happen I may use a stock 8G spoiler which is sitting in my garage.

P.S. did anyone order MDX projectors, if you want to keep your projects private pm me. The only reason I ask is because the seller told me he got rid of a bunch quickly and asked if it was my doing.

Well guys my 3rd and final set of HIDs is due in tomorrow for the G so I think I am gonna be tearing the front end apart and customizin the dust caps on the ebay heads to clear the HID bulbs and make a nice rubber seal for them.

I also gonna be doing some nice black lids to match my grill and will be rewiring and securing everything properly.

Does anyone need any tutorials on Heads, HIDs, my fogs, ebay halo wires, dust cap modification, or FG lids. Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Bah I hit a couple snags today. But I will prevail. I got the dust caps modified on heads to fit the HID bulbs. I rewired my turn and halo lights to make it cleaner and I made my eyelids. The lids are now drying with bondo on them Soon I will be sanding them down and painting them. The biggest snag I hit was having wrong HID bulb, so I ordered a new set from ddm and threw out the wrong set. There goess 22 bucks from the unemployed man lol

Done for the day. I finished rewiring and cleanign everything up. ITs still a mess.

I will have to rewire my harness to go back to halogens, but I dont plan on that since I can always swap in the H1 bulbs from my Highs to lows while I wait for lows when they are blown.

Just gotta wait for another pair of bulbs next week as I ordered wrong ones, but she looks lovely.

So as far as turbo project is going, I ordered a 3'' magnaflow got it for 60 bucks shipped from a kid on evom. I will post exact specs once I get it. o2 housing and evo 8 manifold are on the way. Rear JDM bumper is in garage, fender flares are in room.

Turbo Parts:
TD05H 9.8 Hotside
Evo 8 Exhaust mani
Evo 8 o2 Housing
Evo 9 fuel pump
Evo 8 fuel rail
Evo 8 fpr
Evo 8 ecu
Made an offer on WRX 440cc injectors

Exterior Project:
JDM Rear
JDM 6 piece fender flares

Exhaust Parts:
3'' Magnaflow
thinking about going 3'' turbo back with a 3'' high flow cat and 3'' VRS piping for 3G extended. With custom down pipe from turbo.

Intake parts:
For now thinking about Outlander intake and 6g72 or 6g74 TB, but that will be more towards autumn.

Any advice on parts I have or am planning on getting is welcome. Any advice on the remaining turbo pieces are also welcome. Thanks for viewing and for the support guys.

yeah if i can get the pieces together. I will have my car inspected now just so I can install the 5spd and have time to tinker and get rid of CELs and shit. its pretty straight forward. the plus side of going through roman is it will be done in about 4 hrs or so at this point. its becoming routine. lol. it will also be done at a shop and all the tools are available and possibly if anything is missing that is readily available it can be accessed. in addition eugene ends up doing most of the work anyway so you can pretty much chill out and lend a hand when needed.

you also dont have to wait so much on other people scheduals which is always a problem. denver had to go without a car for about a week since i had to come and give him a hand and wasnt able to make it there for a while

Putting on and removing the tranny is pretty hard if you dont have either A) a lift B) a cherry picker or C) transmission jack.

I had a cherry picker and 2 floor jacks and it was still pretty challenging to get the tranny up that high and all lined up

I would probably use and engine lift after wheeling it in on a jack from the bottom and lift it up with that while angling it, but I would rather have roman and eugene do it since they are old hands at it
