Lately it seems like I am losing power. And I don't mean driving power.

-My windows go up slower.
-When I had to stop going down my drive way the other night, I slid in the snow and when my ABS kicked in, my head lights dimmed.
-When I am at idle, my heat/ac is "slower" then when I am on the gas.
-I can't roll up 2 windows at once.

I just put a new battery in the summer of 08'. Could it be the battery? Or am I having problems with the Alt?

How expensive is this job if I am looking at an Alt problem?

Is that something they do for free? Or is there a fee?

Most of the auto stores check for free.

Thanks for the help guys. When I get back from vacation I'll get it checked out.

This is an easy test....I've done this and it works great...

Loosen your battery cable, start your car, pull of the cable, and if your car keeps running your alternator is charging your vehicle.

Thanks for the help, but while searching for info on this issue before making a post for it, I saw everyone say that is NOT how you check it your self. I really would rather not screw up my car and let the pro's do it right.

Could be both battery and/or alternator. Improper voltage is the problem, both sources should be checked and replaced as necessary.

this works, so dont be scared to try it, the autozone test isnt always right. My wife's minivan alternator stopped working yesterday. I took it to autozone to get a new one and the test said it was good twice, 2 trips to autozone later i bought an alternator, problem solved.
