Very important info that I have found

https://www.thegalantcenter.org/showpost.php?p=362002&postcount=12

Some good info about 1g loggers and software DLs

http://mmcdlogger.sourceforge.net/

As you know 94-95 galants have the OBD 1.5. and because of that the only way to know what is up in the ECU is by counting the CEL flashes, buying a $2000 Snap on tool, or going to the dealership. Well last two can really reach deep in the pocket, and the first one can really spit out the error code and thats it. In many cases, especially after some mods have been done, it is necessary to know the fuel trims, o2 sensor voltages, knock and many other options that a logger can provide.

/some info on OBD 1.5: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-board_diagnostics/

The good thing about Mitsubishi is that they didnt implement OBD2 codes, but stuck with the OBD1 codes. The only thing that got changes was the diagnostics plug. From OBD1 Mitsubishi plugs, now there are OBD2 plug where all wires were transferred and an OBD1 plug that has only one wire to it.

94-95 Data Link Connector Pinout

Pin 1: Diagnostic/ECU output (ECU pin 42)
Pin 2: Unknown/Usused
Pin 3: Unknown/Usused
Pin 4: Ground
Pin 5: Ground
Pin 6: TCU
Pin 7: Diagnostic Control Signal (ECU pin 43)
Pin 8: ABS
Pin 9: [Alarm]
Pin 10: Unknown/Usused
Pin 11: Unknown/Usused
Pin 12: SRS/Airbag
Pin 13: Cruise
Pin 14: Vehicle Speed
Pin 15: Unknown/Usused
Pin 16: Power

When Pin 1 is grounded, the ECU display DTC's just as the 1G eclipse.

When Pin 7 is grounded(most likely to Pin 4), the ECU goes into diagnostic mode and information from Pin 1 is used to exchange to a scan tool or logger.

On the 94-95 ECU pinout, the diagnostic pins are 42 and 43, going to pin 1 and 7 of the diagnostic plugs. After doing some research I matched the pins to the 1g ECU which are pins 1 and 2, and came up with some like this:

And this is how it looks in real time:

http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af184/mko1234/HPIM0822.jpg

Then got all the other components needed:

Mitsubishi OBD1 cable

Palm III xe device with cradle:

the whole thing:

Now I havent tested it yet, cuz i just got the OBd1 cable in the mail.

Thoughts and comments are welcome

FYI, Evo I-III uses the same OBD 1.5 setup and I believe Evoscan can be use to log. :)

Right click and Save Target As...

Palm Hybrid OBD logger (http://mysticj.fileave.com/mmcd-evo1_3_and_hybrid_obd.zip)

Since you have a Palm, this is a freebie. Plus I add a homemade RS232 datalog cable diagram for you. Enjoy.

Edit: Evoscan had a TON load of cool features, the Palm is okay for now.

I'm going to attempt to log my GS this month or March. I guess I will be creating my own cable and using Palm OS which is emulator version of the Palm for the PC. I believe there is a boomslang for the ecu via 94-95 3000GT, which is the same connector as the 94-95 Galant. I have to look into.

I am very interested in this, I just recently squired a 94 GS and I've been looking around this website and this is some excellent information.

Please continue to add to it

Do you guys think I will be able to read codes with a Openport 2.0 Tactrix cable and evoscan?

My brother has a GS that has a check engine light Iam trying to fix...

This program something that will work for me in my GS? I'm trying to learn GS specific things and there is not all that much information around.

Ok Kool, I already have the cable with reflash plug. I used it a few times on my evo but haven't got a chance to use it on a galant. I'll be visiting my bro in texas around the 14th, so I will report back with results...

Well I hooked it up to my dads win7 laptop when I was out in texas but the cable couldn't be recognized when using the latest version of evoscan :(...
I got a winxp laptop that I will load evoscan on and try on my 7g tomorrow and update again...

I think it needs the drivers installed to recognize the cable.
In Evoscan I think you either select "hybrid" and 'EFI' for the Hybrid ecu(i.e. 94-95 Galant) or MUT-II.

Does anyone have a good electrical diagram of connector C-22[DLC] and C-23[Next to the DLC]. Especially C-23 because I can't find nothing about it. The only information I have on it, is that it is consider as a data link connector as the standard 16 pin connector one but it has 12 pins like the 1G DLC.

Here is the underdash photo

I think I found it. It appears to be the same colour as the ABS output as Pin 8 on the 16-pin DLC.

this pin is like enable pin. the two pins on the ECU are 42 and 43

mysticj

I'm talking about Pin 10 on the 12-pin DLC, which is next to the 16-pin DLC. It appears to be the same colour wire as the ABS 16-pin DLC.

if the 94-95 galant is based on ODB1.5 and Evo 1, II, III then per evoscan the galant sin't supported. I want to go this route too.

from the site.
Known incompatable vehicles (I'm working on making them work, they might all be using the same ecu)
- L200 (petrol and diesel)
- Pajero (petrol and diesel)
- 1992-95 Mitsubishi Evo I, II & III

Connecting with Evoscan

http://kethura12.fileave.com/0413111921.jpg
Wire in a Mirage 1.5L MAP sensor into the EGR temp sensor, then add a new parameter to monitor it. In this photo, I'm verifying that the MAP and Baro are reading close together at sea level with the engine off. They are about ~1 kPa off

http://kethura12.fileave.com/0413111924.jpg
Verifying that the MAP is working properly, as RPM and Throttle open more the more the kPa climbs back to reach sea level pressure. Also, as the kPa rises the Airflow in Hz rises as well.

I know it's been over a year since the last post but yes I am extremely interested in this! I have a 7g Gs with a 4g63t block and 4g64 head and I've had a safc hooked because with the 450s it was getting way to much fuel. But i just hooked up a Maft and i want to tune it. A logger would be very helpful but i really would like to see a fully functioning scan tool such as DSM link for the 7g Gs

I have logged my GS with the cable I build and I have sold about 4 TOTAL to date due to lack of interest from individuals that said they need one.

As for tuning capabilities, hunt down an Evo 1-3 or RVR eprom ECU. It's PnP with our harness and their are plenty of roms available for NLTS, Anti-Lag, etc.
