F4A51, Other Models with Same Tranny

My tranny just went out. It's gonna be 2-3 weeks before I can get a family friend that own a transmission shop to actually look at it. I went to pullapart and they only had one tranny that was in decent shape. It was out in the weather and got rained on, so I'm a lil hesitate about it's internal condition. It was only like 80 bucks so I grabbed it while I could. I wanna say it's a F4A51, but one website says it's a F4A42 tranny. I could be mistake tho. Is there any other make and models that use that same tranny? PS I have a 1999 Galant 2.4L Auto. I'll be able to get the exact stamp off the body of the tranny in a few hrs.

The 2000-2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4, Chrisler Sebring 2.4, and Dodge Stratus 2.4 (if the it exists) would have the same transmission. I don't know the years for the Chrisler and the Dodge though

F4A42 is for the 2.4L I4
F4A51 is for the 3.0L V6

Thanks alot, yes the stamp on mine says F4A42. Do you know if the other models bolt up to the 99 2.4L engine?

yes they bolt up. They all have the Mitsubishi 4G64

im pretty sure lancer's trannies would work too.

i posted something about that in the manual swap section, but no one knew, the lancer transmission has different gearing not sure if they bolt up someone his going to have to physically find this out

The parts guy at the mitsubishi dealership said that you have to look at the production date on the inside of the door.

The dates are Feb. 1998 to May 2000, for the GALANTS.

I had to call cause i found a 2000 galant at a paint and body shop that they were selling for parts and the lady was arguing with me cause she said that in her computer it was saying that the 2000 galant tranny was not compatible with the 1999. But when i looked on the inside of the door, the production date was Aug 1999. I am proud to say that i finally have my car back on the road and it shifts a whole lot better now.
