Okay so I have a bad misfire now and the car goes putt-putt-putt-putt-putt-putt and so on..... But after I drive it, I smell rotten egg-like smell come from the exhaust... I think I need new coil packs or what ever you guys can diagnose... I replaced the head gasket, valve cover, spark plugs, timing belt, oil, just got rid of that air bubble in my brake system. I'm just going through the engine as well as whatever I can find that needs to be done. But this Egg smell is a first ever for me.

Oh and If my coil packs are still shooting sparks when I remove the plugs to the wires from them, does that mean they are still good or can they do that and be bad?

Rotten egg smell means you have a clogged Cat. Unburned gas doesn't smell like rotten eggs.

Unburned gas smells delicious.

Like Ray said, a clogged cat smells like rotten eggs.

I dont understand how it gets clogged. I searched and it says that you should floor your pedal every now-and-then you wouldn't get that smell. I floor it every now-and-then.

I would just use the hammer and floor it method. the cat gets clogged because it deteriorates over time and the "honeycomb" inside breaks apart and clogs things up.

i am in the process of replacing mine, i got an eastern catalytic cat from rock auto, they say it has higher flow over oem, not sure if true or not.But if it were me based upon what stewi saying how the cat deteriorates, id just get a new one.

Yeah I will.. but the shop says they will provide the parts and labor all for $880. I might as well get a new system. I'm planning on upgrading my car anyway so as parts fail, they will be upgraded.

Okay so I decided to get headers. now as for the first cat. Do I have to move it or just plug in the bank one 02 sensor in the headers and run the secon cat?

put the o2 sensor where the header goes into one pipe not on one of the individual ones, putting on the singla tube gives the ecu reading of that cylinder only not the overall

Gotcha. I will definitely do that but the ones from Megan model number MR-SSH-ME00L4 already has the 02 sensor port already as I saw on the site
