i went to turn on the car this morning and it wouldnt start. the car was extremely low on gas last night when i came home and since i was parked on a hill i thought that it needed gas so i put some in it. the car still wont start. ive checked for spark and fuel delivery and that seems ok. i think it might be the distributor but i dont know. any thoughts? thanks -eddie-

how's the battery, may be strong enough to crank the motor, but not enough to start it.

well i know the battery was a little weak but i put jumper cables to it and it wouldnt start so i put another battery from my other car which almost new and it still wont start.

you say your getting good spark? how's the timing?

i just got the timing replaced about 1000 miles ago so i dont think thats the problem. when i checked it had spark but i dont know if the spark was good enough. i had a friend of mine look at it and he now tells me that there is no spark at all.

take the cap off of the distributor, check out for bad rotor, bad cap, any cracks?

the rotor turns fine and i dont see any cracks. i replaced those about 1500 miles ago. i will replace them just to see if that may be the problem before i go and spend a fortune on a new distributor.

check the leads to Dist Cap and Coil

the leads seemed ok but i will double check. i was also wondering if the distributor is specific to that car or if one from say an eclipse might work with it. thanks -eddie-

does anyone know if a distributor from a same year n/a eclipse or dsm might fit the galant? - thanks - eddie-

well the distributor was changed today and it still doesnt start. there seems to be fuel delivery so i dont know what else could be wrong with it. any ideas? thanks -eddie-

check with your basics, fill it up with gas. make sure you got oil, trans fluid, coolant, all the fluids.

Next check your plugs, check if they are dirty with carbon, check sparking plug connections, check the distributor.

Check the battery, one tiem i tried using a jumper pack didnt work, 10 minutes later it worked, it was VERY weird

After that i would think it would be the starter solenoid. THat will cost some to fix

we just checked compression and it read 60 on all four. im also going to fill up the tank just in case i put some of that mixed gas that is used on yard machinery. im thinkin thats what happened because the spark plugs are really dirty.

well the car is running again. turns out it was mixed gas. clogged up fuel the injectors and screwed a lot of stuff up. i also managed to ruin a distributor. last time i ever run on empty. thanks for your help -eddie-

You put two stroke fuel in your tank? :nope: Better change your fuel filter. I can guarantee it's gunked up.
