I finally took the time to clear my corners, but I decided to take a different approach. When I searched different pictures of the results, I didn't like how you could see the bulb straight through the spot where the reflector would be. I ended up sanding the clear spot, giving the corner a "frosted look." It may not be a big difference, but let me know what you all think.

Hey thanks everyone for the replies! When I had the lens separated, I used 1000 grit sand paper and sanded the inside where the reflector would be until the finish was nice and uniform throughout.

Thats looks really good. Im not a fan of cleared corners but i do like yours! great job!

I do have a question for ya. How did you split your headlights apart to separate the lens. Heat gun? Thanks!

They look great!

Keith, turn your oven on to 200 degrees F for 10 minutes. Turn it off, and immediately put a headlight in for 10 minutes only using the heat that's remaining in the oven. Pull them out and separate. If you leave your oven on while the headlights are in, you will melt them, trust me, I learned the hard way a few years ago.

I think I screwed up when I was putting them back together. I should have scraped the old sealant before putting new sealant on, because the lens sits out a little further than it did before. Ah well, thatll be the next project.

And thanks everyone for the compliments!!

Looks like it lines up with the body pretty good. i would leave it unless it gets moisture in it or something.

Thanks for getting back to me guys. i was just going to try a heatgun. But if this oven this is effective, then why not lol. Thanks again

wow those look good man. I hate the normal clear corners, but these are a hell of a lot better since you can't see the bulb

This may be off topic, but has anyone ever thought about sanding the exterior chrome trim pieces? I was wondering if sanding them would give them a brushed aluminum look.

i do believe people have sanded them before but only because they were going to paint them. I'm gonna paint mine w/ smoked metalcast to give it more of a blackout look

If you want to give it an aluminum look don't sand it, use a scotch bight pad. Make sure not to press too hard and make sure all the brushing is going in the same direction.

Good call, because I was thinking 1000 grit or finer. But if I do it Ill use the scotch pad. Its not sanding but scuffing the surface a little right?

I have done the brushed look o my maxima grill. Used 600 grit first, 1500 the 2000. Took a lot of sanding . Make sure you go the same direction and then use some kind of polish in the end.
