Ok guys throw some ideas at me here, Im stumped by what could be causing this. It even does it when its the ground is wet. I dont get on it too much but when I do I get wheel hop at the top of first gear.

I have:

Prothane solid motor mounts (all 4)
Megan coilovers
Tires are falken azenis rt-615's 245-45-17 (fronts are just about bald btw)

My only suspicion would be the tires.

Any other suggestions?

did you fill up the holes of the front roll stopper with windo weld? i have solid steel front roll stopper and i havent had wheel hop yet.

and your tires are too wide. maybe not enough power to get them loose

Hmm good point I never thought of filling up the holes in the front rollstop, and traction my be part of the issue, they will break loose at first and then up around 4k they will start to grab/hop.

I don't think traction is your issue I have 255s up front and I almost never get wheel hop

i only get wheel hop when i break the tries loose. its traction issues. because you got the mounts wich usually stops it. and the suspension to help. just need new tires fred.

and why are you breaking the tires loose?

if your spinning your not winning ;)

I hate wheel hop.. Feels like my car is going to explode when it hops in first.. I need to get me some prothane mounts and an ETD.

Prothane mounts eliminated my wheel hop issue.

I wonder if I could make a torque dampener

Because you are automatic. 8G five-speeds are so much more torquier. You'll understand what i'm saying when you swap.

My car wheel hops pretty bad as well From 1st all the way to my 2-3 shift. However, I have stock mounts.

Your car has too big of a tire with not enough power, which is why it is wheel hopping despite the solid mounts and suspension.

My car wheel hops like a motherfucker when it's wet.

Increase your megan dampener setting (harder) in the rear only.

Hmm I was thinking the same thing Dave, I have it set at the middle setting in the rear and 4 clicks softer on the front.

Also I need suggestions on tires, in gonna go with a 235 40 17 but I can't decide if I want to go with the Dunlop direzza star specs or bfg kdw 2's.

I have the KD's up front in a 225 50 16 and I love the grip and responsiveness. Not too loud either.

I have the BFG KDW2s on my 19s. They are fantastic tires to be sure. Though they aren't even in the same league as the Dunlop Star Specs. The BFGs are usually listed as a Ultra-High Performance tire, the Dunlops a Extreme Performance tire. And that is true. So it kind of depends on what type of driving prevails for you.

Considering the price range for the tires in that size you selected is similar, well, it is a no brainer for me. I'd go for the Dunlop Star Specs. However, you do give up some hydroplaning resistance, but gain loads in dry performance. Don't get me wrong, the BFGs are great, and a worthy choice, and it may even be a tie, but new, and what no one else on the block has is always nice too...lol

I will say one benefit for the BFGs is that the load rating is generally higher than most. As such it will perform better under reduced air pressure situations, AND allow you to maintain a stock tire pressure (32psi front 29 psi rear).

What tire pressure are you running to be curious?

Well given tires I have now I'm running 2-3 lbs more both f+r. I'm having a hard time deciding which tires to get lol

What do you have the megans set to up front fred? Pretty sure you can take the hop out with the coils
