Doing a top speed run like that is alot of stress on the drivetrain when being revved that high. Whats funny is that bottom end in the car was probably the same one they raced all year last season, they wouldnt waste a new engine on something like that. To them its a drop in the hat, they probably had a new engine in that car a few days later.

actually faster... if you read the comment from them "We have full videos of the runs which we plan on posting soon. #3 Connecting rod failed at the end of the run and punched a hole through the block spilling oil onto a glowing exhaust manifold which caused a fire. We are not sure why just yet, unfortunately the safety officials shut off the power (just doing their job) so we lost the data logs. The engine was being spun to 10,600 rpm in 4th gear to overcome a 3,000 rpm. drop when shifting into 5th so it was getting worked pretty hard."

so they had a few of them around

impressive. however, as much of a fanboy i am towards mitsubishi, it's not that impressive considering it caught fire LOL. i'm sure hondas can reach 230mph but they'll be a ball of fire flying into the air

Impressive and congrats the AMS.

They beat the previous fastest Mitsubishi by 4mph which was a Galant VR4. I am pretty sure AMS won't hold that record very long...because the Smith Auto Racing will surely go faster than that by the end of the year.

Their motor didn't blow up either....Just sayin.:003:
