View Full Version : End link question...

I was having some odd noises from underneath my 8G so I took a look and noticed the nut on my passenger end link (stabilizer bar link) that connects to the sway bar was missing. I think it became loosened when I hit a crater of a pothole. So I purchased a nut and tried to install it but found that the stud on the end link was stripped out and rotated when trying to install.

I don't specifically need adjustable end links because I have K Sports but I wouldn't be opposed to them.

My question is since I have one bad end link should I just replace both sides and should I just use OEM end links or is their anything better that fits an 8G?

i would replace them no need to replace both unless you want to. i have to moog end links in the front and one moog in the back. ill replace the last one when i get the chance.

the OEM ones are plastic garbage. The Moog ones are all steel, I would go Moog.

dont be fooled though moog end links look alot bigger then the oem links. but there not just thicker n stronger same size too.

I sell them at CarQuest. Though, I'm sure the other parts stores sell them as well.

should be able to get them at any auto parts store i got mine from a local not well known store in springfield mass i dont know if theres a carquest where you are but if there is they may have them. you could also try autozone or advance. i believe i paid about $65 each in the front and the one in the back was around $40.

not everyone one buys their stuff online. too much hassle especially if you have to replace or exchange. its great buying stuff online its way cheaper but id prefer to buy locally.

Replace them both at the same time. It is a easy repair, and MOOG has a lifetime warranty.

yeah thats what i did for the front ones as for the back i replaced one didnt have the money to change the other one. since the oem were 10 yrs old n rusted the allen key hole stripped. so i blew them out with the torch and changed them it is really easy.

Hey guys finally had some time to put on my Moog end links. It looks as if they're double the diameter of the OEM links so I should be good for a while. Thanks for pointing in the direction of Moog and Rock Auto!

Yeah any of the links that are all metal are fine, the moog ones are great, but I bet other brands that are all metal would be fine as long as the joint is good quality

yeah, i think the biggest point is being missed here by some people, and in the other end-link discussions as well. most people are noting how much thicker they are, but how often do they actually snap? i know they do, but its just that the likelihood is much lower than it is for them to separate at the ball/socket joint, which is the most common type of failure. a stronger joint and full-metal construction, like stewi mentioned, is probably the most important feature to consider
