Spark plugs... NGK 5555?

I've done some searching, and I'm trying to pick up a set of spark plugs locally... I should be using NGK PFR6G-11, however none of the local parts stores carry them by this number... through google I've found what I believe to be NGK 5555 as an alternate part number for this plug, but the local sites say these plugs aren't recommended for this vehicle? Correct me if I'm wrong, but NGK 5555 is NGK PFR6G-11? Just wanted to make sure... I've got some unexpected time off from work, so I'm trying to get this, and my valve cover gasket & seals done this weekend, hence the reason for not wanting to order online. Thanks!

BTW... 3.0 L 6G72 V6, I've done enough searching to know these are the plugs everyone recommends (including the manual)... just need to know about the "5555".

Shouldn't it be the NGK PFR5G-11, if you're looking for the platinums? Should be available at an Advance Auto near you. Or you can order it from rockauto.com

Well there's that too... apparently, Mitsubishi switched to the PFR5G-11 in 2002/3? All year's prior it was PFR6G-11, plenty of threads thoughout here mentioning this, and I believe someone recommended running the "6" plugs over the "5" plugs to avoid possible pre-ignition problems... the difference in the two are the heat range, the "5" being the hotter plug I believe.

If this has since been disproved please correct me... thanks!

Ok, sorry, but since you didn't mention the year, I just went with the newer v6. My mistake.

Well, from what I can find, the NGK "5555" is actually the NGK PFR6G-11. 5555 is the stock number for the NGK part number PFR6G11. You can even see this on the NGK site. You can see this on the NGK website too -

Advance auto and rock auto both have this part listed for the 2001 v6 Galant.
