5speed is done, it lives it runs it shift's, it's heaven, thank you goosey for the tut even though it was abit confusing at time's :P thanks beam for the help but thanks alot 4g63mightymax over at hotrodcoffeshop, between your and gooesy's write ups I don't think i could have done it.

couple of ?'s

clutch adjustment i have my clutch adjusted pretty high, "i think i need a new slave, maybe an extended rod. and with the little bit that i've driven it "IE up the street and back to clear all gears" it seems like the clutch doesn't fully disengage until ALL the way to floor allowing me to shift any idea's?.

is it ok, in other words is it a big deal, if i say the hell with trying to bolt the shift cable bracket back the firewall, it took me nearly 3hrs with my sasquatch hands to get those bolts out it was HELL way worse than putting the tranny in. If you all say it really REALLY needs to be bolted back up then i'm going to get some thinner longer bolts with washer's..ect to go through the hole.

other than those two things I'm just so glad i was able to get this done it's been a realy trip these past 4days in the Texas heat doing this, and unfortunately sasquatch hands usualy come with sasquatch feet so the dead pedal's got to go.

skrap have you done the 5 speed swap? There's only 2 bolts that hold that shifter cable bracket to the firewall.

Poison, even with my skinny fingers and various tools, I could not for the life of me get either of those bolts back in. Even with cutting away some of the protective black lining and ripping out the insulating carpet, I couldn't get the bolts to line up. I ended up leaving them unbolt, and I've been driving and shifting just fine since December.

yea beam i think i'm just gonna say the hell with it, it was just to much of a pita to get out, if i really feel like i need to do it i'll get some long skinny bolts with locking washer's and put through and some friggin wing nuts or something on the engine side LOL, you got any idea's on the clutch situation, i didn't drive it long maybe 5mins so it could just be my imagination but i pretty much had to push the clutch all the way with the tip of my toe to get it to come out of gear while driving.

oh sorry I skimmed your original post so I didn't see the clutch part. Did you bleed the lines? Some other I4 members have also had to get extended slave rods, though you would think that you shouldn't have to since the Eclipse and Galant are pretty the same car.

yea i bleed the shit out of it, it's REALLY firm and when i say really firm i mean firmer than a boner you get from an OD of Viagra no squishyness at all just have to have the SOB ALL the way to the floor to bring it out of gear when slowing/stoping, or start going from a stop.

My clutch doesnt FULLY disengage til close to the floor either. Though I dont have any problems driving. My clutch fork pivot ball is shimmed 1/8th". I might use the extended slave rod, but I like how it drives. I had to pull the master cylinder rod out pretty far to get it to where I want it without having to buy the extended rod and so far so good.
